The Dominican Football Federation () is the governing body of football in the Dominican Republic. Liga Dominicana de Futbol The Liga Dominicana de Fútbol is the top division for association football in the Dominican Republic, it was created on September 16, 2014. The league begun in March 2015. The Dominican Football Federation announced the creation of the Dominican Football League (LDF), in a ceremony held at the Ambassador Hotel Santo Domingo. The ceremony was attended by President of CONCACAF Jeffrey Webb, President of the Dominican Olympic Committee Luisín Mejia, the vice-minister of sports Marcos Diaz among others. Jonathan Faña
Jonathan Rafael Faña Frías (born 11 April 1987) is a Dominican former professional footballer who played as a striker. Faña is the all-time international top goalscorer of the Dominican Republic national football team with 24 goals. Club career Faña began his career with Moca FC in the Dominican Republic, leading the Liga Mayor with 16 goals during the 2004/05 season. He moved to TT Pro League power W Connection in 2006. Faña quickly established himself at the club and by 2007 was a regular starter, scoring 9 league goals during his first season as a regular starter and playing primarily as a left-sided attacking midfielder. Cibao Fútbol Club is a Dominican professional football team based in Santiago de los Caballeros. Founded in 2015, the team competes in the Liga Dominicana de Fútbol. History Cibao Futbol Club was founded on January 1, 2015, ahead of the inaugural season of the Liga Dominicana de Fútbol. The club built a new stadium, Estadio Cibao FC, that opened on March 8, 2015. Cibao FC partnered with the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and the ARMID Foundation to build the stadium and form a development academy. The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra contributed 26,187 square meters of land for the construction of the stadium. The ARMID-Foundation Real Madrid Foundation used these facilities to establish the first Real Madrid Foundation's Tecnification School in Latin America, which will be responsible for giving sports and academic training to children and adolescents.
