Cooks Springs (also known as Cook Springs or Polk) is an unincorporated community in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States. Cooks Springs is located along Interstate 20 and U.S. Route 78, west of Pell City. Cooks Springs had a post office until November 19, 2011; it still has its own ZIP code, 35052. Cooks Springs was named for William Praytor Cooke, who settled here in 1854. Geography The community is located along Interstate 20 west of Pell City, along a stretch of freeway commonly known as "Bloody 20" due to the significantly hilly ridges the freeway passes through, posing a threat to slowing truck traffic. Access to the community can be found from exit 152. Via I-20, Birmingham is 28 mi (45 km) west, and Atlanta, GA is 120 mi (193 km) east. Pell City, Alabama
Pell City is a city in and one of the county seats of St. Clair County, Alabama, United States, the other seat being Ashville, Alabama, Ashville. At the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population was 12,939. At the 2010 census, the city-limit population jumped to 12,695. It was home to Avondale Mills and its legacy in the Avondale Mill Historic District. Area codes 205 and 659 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the western and central parts of the U.S. state of Alabama, including the cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Area code 205 was one of the original North American area codes created in 1947 when AT&T created the first continental telephone numbering plan. The numbering plan area comprised the entire state, making Alabama one of 34 states served by a single area code.
