Conor Lamb
Conor James Lamb (born June 27, 1984) is an American attorney and politician who has served as the U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 17th congressional district since 2019. The district includes most of the northwestern suburbs of Pittsburgh. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented the neighboring in 2018. Lamb was also a candidate in the 2022 United States Senate election in Pennsylvania. A longtime resident of Pittsburgh, Lamb earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania and served as an assistant U.S. attorney in his home city from 2014 to 2017. He ran for the 18th district's seat in a special election caused by Republican Congressman Tim Murphy's resignation and defeated Republican Rick Saccone. John Fetterman
John Karl Fetterman (born August 15, 1969) is an American politician who is the United States senator-elect from Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, he has also served as the 34th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania since 2019. Fetterman was the mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania from 2006 to 2019. Generally described as a progressive, Fetterman advocates healthcare as a right, criminal justice reform, abolishing capital punishment, raising the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour, and legalizing cannabis. Beginning his professional career in the insurance industry, Fetterman studied finance at Albright College and earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He went on to join AmeriCorps and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard. After the 2000 census, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was divided into 19 congressional districts, decreasing from 21 due to reapportionment. After the 2010 census, the number of districts decreased again to 18. In the 2022 midterms, per the 2020 United States census, Pennsylvania lost one congressional seat, bringing the delegation's number to 17 districts. On January 22, 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in ''League of Women Voters v. Commonwealth'' that the congressional districts were an unlawful partisan gerrymander in violation of the Pennsylvania Constitution. Rick Saccone
Richard Saccone (born February 14, 1958) is an American educator and politician who represented Pennsylvania's 39th district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019. A Republican, he was his party's nominee for the March 2018 special election to fill in the vacant U.S. House seat for the 18th congressional district. Saccone lost to Democratic candidate Conor Lamb by a margin of 0.3%. He posted a video of himself on Facebook while standing in view of the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol. A special election for Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district was held on March 13, 2018, following the resignation of Republican Representative Tim Murphy. Murphy, who held the seat since January 3, 2003, declared his intent to resign on October 5, 2017, and vacated his seat on October 21 that year. Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District
Pennsylvania's 17th congressional district is represented by Democrat Conor Lamb. The district encompasses the entirety of Beaver County, a small portion of southwestern Butler County, and all parts of Allegheny County not part of the 18th district. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruled that the map violated the state constitution and redrew it in February 2018.
