Congress Hall, Warsaw
The Congress Hall () is a 2,880-seat theatre at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland. It was opened in 1955. Renovation The hall was closed in July 2014 for renovations, modernisation and improvements for fire safety. Originally the hall was to be closed for two years before re-opening in 2016. The initial cost estimate was 45 million złoty. The renovation of the building began in september of 2014, in order to adapt it to fire protection requirements. However, it turned out that the cost and scope of the work were underestimated, and in the spring of 2016 their contractor declared bankruptcy.In December 2017, the management board of the PKiN management company initiated a tender for a new concept aimed at modernizing the hall. The projected cost of the renovation exceeded PLN 100 million, with completion scheduled between 2022 and 2024. Mieskuoro Huutajat (Screaming Men) is an internationally famous shouting choir from Oulu, Finland. They were established in 1987 and originally comprised 20 shouting men, since expanded to 30. Led by conductor , the choir is best known for their loud renditions of Finnish patriotic songs, but have also performed foreign tunes such as The Star-Spangled Banner. Dead Can Dance are a British-Australian band founded in Melbourne in 1981 by Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard, before relocating to London the following year. Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music band founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese the only constant member until his death in January 2015. The best-known lineup of the group was its mid-1970s trio of Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. In 1979, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann until his own departure in 1985. This lineup was notable for composing many movie soundtracks. Since Froese's death in 2015, the group has been under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning.
