The Conemaugh River is a tributary of the Kiskiminetas River in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Westmoreland, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Cambria County, Pennsylvania, Cambria counties in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Conemaugh Dam
Conemaugh Dam (also known as Conemaugh River Dam or Conemaugh River Lake Dam) is a concrete gravity dam across the Conemaugh River, near the town of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, Saltsburg, in Pennsylvania. The dam was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1936 and completed in 1952 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood protection on the Conemaugh, Kiskiminetas River, Kiskiminetas, and Allegheny River, Allegheny Rivers. The dam is one of 16 flood control structures in the Corps' Pittsburgh District. With a capacity of , the lake is usually kept at a much lower level of , to accommodate flash floods. Water is released as quickly as possible while not exacerbating flooding conditions downstream. Chestnut Ridge, Bedford County
Chestnut Ridge is an elongate hill trending northeast-southwest in west-central Bedford County, Pennsylvania. It is partially forested with rural homes, farms, and notably apple orchards. Four small towns surround it: Schellsburg, New Paris, Fishertown, and Pleasantville. Shawnee State Park and Shawnee Lake lie immediately to the south of the ridge.
