A ''communauté de communes'' (, "community of communes") is a federation of municipalities (communes) in France. It forms a framework within which local tasks are carried out together. It is the least-integrated form of ''intercommunalité'' (intercommunality). As of 1 January 2007, there were 2,400 ''communautés de communes'' in France (2,391 in metropolitan France and 9 in the overseas departments), with 26.48 million people living in them. Vosges () is a department in the Grand Est region in Northeastern France. It covers part of the Vosges mountain range, after which it is named. Le Ménil
Le Ménil () is a commune in the Vosges department in Grand Est in northeastern France. It is sometimes called ''Le Ménil-Thillot'' to distinguish it from nearby Ménil-de-Senones. Inhabitants are called Guédons. Geography The commune is positioned in the southeast of the département, some to the west of the source of the Moselle at Bussang. The intervening presence of a 952-meter mountain peak means that for motorists the drive to Bussang covers approximately however. Across the Ménil Pass to the northeast, and approached by smaller roads, is the less well known Moselotte River. The pass connects the seat of the canton, Le Thillot, with Cornimont and a number of smaller mountain villages. Ramonchamp
Ramonchamp () is a large commune in the Vosges department in Grand Est in northeastern France. Inhabitants are called ''Ramoncenais''. Geography Downstream of Le Thillot and upstream of Ferdrupt, Ramonchamp is positioned in a narrow section of the upper Moselle valley. The only main road is the National road RN66 which connects with Remiremont some to the south west and the Bussang Pass into Alsace en route for Mulhouse to the east-southeast. In other directions, the mountain slopes are too steep to afford easy access to Saulxures-sur-Moselotte, positioned in an adjacent valley to the north, though for the intrepid a relatively direct route exists courtesy of the 791-meter-high Morbieux Pass ''(Col de Morbieux)''.
