''Comet, Come to Me'' is the 11th studio album by U.S. singer Meshell Ndegeocello, released 2 June 2014, on Naïve (Naïve Records), Naïve Records. Kyle Fleck of ''The Stranger (newspaper), The Stranger'' described the album as "a lyrically haunted yet lushly produced set of alienated art pop for adults." Andy Kellman of AllMusic described it as a continuation of ''Devil's Halo'' (2009) and ''Weather (Meshell Ndegeocello album), Weather'' (2011), "with well-defined and uncluttered songs that have subtle and artful touches and twists." Meshell Ndegeocello
Meshell Ndegeocello ( ; born Michelle Lynn Johnson on August 29, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and bassist. She has gone by the name Meshell Suhaila Bashir-Shakur which is used as a writing credit on some of her mid-career work. Her music incorporates a wide variety of influences, including funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, reggae and rock. She has received significant critical acclaim throughout her career, being nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, and winning three. She also has been credited for helping to "spark the neo-soul movement". Biography Ndegeocello was born Michelle Lynn Johnson in West Berlin, Germany, to US Army Sergeant Major and saxophonist father Jacques Johnson and health care worker mother Helen. She was raised in Washington, D.C., where she attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts and Oxon Hill High School.
