Comarca Metropolitana de Almería is one of the seven Comarcas of Spain, comarcas and metropolitan area in the province of Province of Almería, Almería, Andalusia, Spain. This comarca was established in 2003 by the Government of Andalusia. Geography It is located in the southeast corner of the province, sharing borders with the comarcas of Poniente Almeriense and Alpujarra Almeriense to the west, Filabres-Tabernas and Levante Almeriense to the north. Pechina is a municipality of the Province of Almería, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It is on the site of the ancient town of Urci. Pechina, called ''Bajjāna'' in Arabic, was the centre of a Yemeni colony during the period of the Umayyad caliphate in Spain. Founded before 886, the self-governing colony was known as the ''ursh al-Yaman''. Jews also shared in the prosperity of Pechina. In 922 it was incorporated into the caliphate. Níjar
Níjar () is a Spanish municipality in the province of Almería, Andalusia. It lies in the eastern part of Almería, in the Sierra de Alhamilla and the south-eastern Mediterranean coast, in the Campo de Níjar, near the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. Níjar covers an area of 599.8 square kilometres, making it one of the most extended municipalities of Spain. Benahadux
Benahadux () is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. History El Chuche is the earliest suburb in the town, founded in the Bronze Age. It was possessed by the Romans, after which it was named Urci and became an important Christian hub. The Moors conquered it in the eighth century, specifically the Banu Abdus tribe, which gave rise to the modern town. Intensive agriculture flourished during their reign due to their advanced watering systems. Fruit trees, cereal crops, vegetables, olive trees and berry shrubs were grown during this period. After the Moors were forced out in 1489 by Christian settlers, their properties were taken. Don Gutierre de Cárdenas gave his properties to Franciscan nuns, who became the biggest landowners in Benahadux till the nineteenth century.
