Coláiste Choilm
Coláiste Choilm is a mixed second-level school in Ballincollig in Cork, Ireland. The school was founded in 1987 to meet demand for second-level education in the rapidly growing satellite town of Ballincollig. Since 1991 it has had a gaelscoil co-located on its campus, Gaelcholáiste Choilm. For the 2023/2024 academic year the school reported an attendance of 675 girls and 684 boys for a total of 1359 students. The school has had two overall winners of the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. Simon Meehan won in 2018. Alan O’Sullivan and Cormac Harris won in 2020. Ballincollig
Ballincollig () is a suburban town within the administrative area of Cork city in Ireland. It is located on the western side of Cork city, beside the River Lee on the R608 road. In 2016 it was the largest town in County Cork, at which time the Ballincollig Electoral Division had a population of 18,621 people. It is located beyond the green belt from the suburbs of Bishopstown and Wilton. BT Young Scientist And Technology Exhibition
The Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, commonly called the Young Scientist Exhibition, is an Irish annual school students' science competition that has been held in the Royal Dublin Society, Dublin, Ireland, every January since the competition was founded by Tom Burke and Tony Scott in 1965. The competition The purpose of the competition is to encourage interest in science in secondary schools. For the 51st year of the competition in 2016, there were over 2,000 entries, from 396 schools which was the highest number ever, 550 of which were selected for the Exhibition at the RDS. Students apply to participate in the competition. Their science project entries are evaluated by judges and about one-third of applicants are accepted to participate in the public exhibition. Daniel Goulding
Daniel Goulding (born 6 July 1986 in Ovens, County Cork, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He began playing Gaelic football with his local club Éire Óg and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team since 2006 until announcing his retirement in October 2016. Biography Born in Ovens, County Cork, Goulding was educated at the local national school before later attending Coláiste Choilm in nearby Ballincollig. Here he became a star on the school football team, winning Cork colleges and Munster honours in all grades. Goulding later studied structural engineering at the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and qualified with a first class honours degree in 2008. He subsequently received funding from the Environmental Protection Agency to research in the area of renewable energy and has completing his PhD on a part-time basis while working for Bord Gáis. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. Ciarán Sheehan (dual Player)
Ciarán Sheehan (born 19 November 1990) is an Irish sportsman. Sheehan played Gaelic football and hurling with his local club Éire Óg GAA (Cork), Éire Óg, his divisional side Muskerry GAA, Muskerry, and was a member of the Cork county football team, Cork senior football team from 2010 until 2013. He signed a two-year contract to play Australian rules football with the Carlton Football Club in 2013, later returning to Ireland. Seán O'Donoghue
Seán O'Donoghue (born 25 January 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-back for club side Inniscarra, divisional side Muskerry and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career College O'Donoghue first came to prominence as a dual player with Coláiste Choilm in Ballincollig. Having played both codes at every grade, he was a centre-forward on the college's senior Gaelic football team. On 12 April 2014, he scored two points as Coláiste Choilm defeated Scoil Aodháin by 1–11 to 1–10 to take the All-Ireland title in the second tier Drummond Cup. Cian Kiely
Cian Kiely (born 27 December 1996) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays at club level with Ballincollig and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. He usually lines out as a defender. Career Kiely first came to sporting prominence playing basketball. He won an All-Ireland U-14 title with his club and also played on Cork and Munster U-14 and U-15 squads. Kiely concentrated on Gaelic football after earning selection on the various Cork development squads at underage level. In 2014 he enjoyed a hugely successful year, winning Munster and All-Ireland titles with Coláiste Choilm, playing for the Cork minor football team, and lining out on the Ballincollig club team that won their first ever Cork SFC title.
