Colunga
Colunga () is a municipality in the Autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It lies on the Cantabrian Sea, and is bordered to the west by Villaviciosa, to the south by Parres and Piloña, and to the east by Caravia. Politics Parishes Parish of Colunga The capital of the municipality is the parish with the same name. Its population is 1,132 ( INE 2007) and it is divided in five villages: Cimavilla, El Ferreru, Friera, Loreto and El Sorriberu. Demography Anchovy beaching incident On September 29, 2006, millions of anchovies, constituting a weight of over three tons, beached themselves near Colunga. Tests on the dead fish did not detect any toxic chemical that could have caused the beaching, and the current working theory is that the shoal beached itself trying to escape from "hungry dolphins or tuna." Caravia
Caravia is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is bordered on the north by the Bay of Biscay, part of the Cantabrian Sea, on the south by Parres, on the east by Ribadesella and on the west by Colunga. Geography Caravia is the third smallest municipality of Asturias. The population is centered mainly in Prado (Prau in Asturian), the municipal capital, Duesos and Duyos. It is 68 km from Oviedo, the capital of the principality. There are mountain summits in the southern parts of Caravia, with Fito (631 m) being the highest. In the north there are three main beaches: Beciella, Arenal de Morís and Espasa. The beaches are separated by great cliffs along the coast. The rest of the municipality has little variation in orography. Its main watercourse is the Romeros river. Parres is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is bordered on the north by Caravia and Ribadesella, on the east by Cangas de Onís, on the west by Piloña and Colunga, and on the south by Amieva. Piloña
Piloña () is a municipality in the province and autonomous community of Asturias, northwestern Spain. Its capital is the town of Infiesto. Piloña is bounded to the north by Villaviciosa and Colunga, to the east by Parres, to the west by Nava and Cabranes, and to the south by Ponga, Caso, Sobrescobio and Laviana. The area is semi-mountainous with many small, but deep and narrow valleys. History In prehistoric times there were Paleolithic settlements in caves in Piloña such as Aviao (Espinaredo) Cave, Collaréu Cave, and La Peña Ferran (Ferran Rock) which were excavated by the Count de la Vega del Sella in the 1920s. Asturias Forum (, , Foro), previously known as Forum of Citizens (, FAC) is a regionalist political party in the Principality of Asturias. History Asturias Forum was founded in January 2011 by former Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Álvarez Cascos, who left the People's Party (PP) after failing to be selected as the party's candidate for President of the Principality of Asturias in the 2011 election.
