The (; ; : ) are an ethno-cultural group of people of French and other European descent who were born in Algeria during the period of French colonial rule from 1830 to 1962. Many of them departed for mainland France during and after the war by which Algeria gained its independence in 1962. From the French invasion on 18 June 1830 to its independence, Algeria was administratively part of France; its ethnic European population were simply called Algerians or (colonists). Javier Colon (stylized as Colón; born April 29, 1978) is an American acoustic singer-songwriter. He has referred to his style of music as being "acoustic soul." He was a member of EmcQ and The Derek Trucks Band, and worked with many musicians before going solo. From 2002 to 2006, he was signed to Capitol Records, known as artist Javier. In 2006, however, the contract was terminated and Javier Colon became an independent artist with his own label, Javier Colon Music. Harry Lee Colon (born February 14, 1969) is an American former professional football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football at Missouri, Colon was selected by the New England Patriots in the eighth round of the 1991 NFL draft. He played in the NFL for six years, playing for the New England Patriots (1991), the Detroit Lions (1992–1994, 1997), and the Jacksonville Jaguars (1995).
