Colo Parish, Camden
The Parish of Colo is a parish of the County of Camden in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales. It is centred on the town of Colo Vale, and includes Aylmerton, Willow Vale, Alpine and Yerrinbool. It also includes the northern parts of Mittagong that are north of the Old Hume Highway. The new Hume Highway runs through the parish from south-west to north-east. Its western boundary is the Nattai River and part of Gibbergunyah (Gibraltar) creek. The southern boundary for a large portion is the Old Hume Highway. The northern boundary is near, but not including Hill Top. The eastern boundary is the Nepean River. Part of the boundary in the north-east is Forest Creek and the Bargo River. The Picton Loop railway line runs through the parish from north to south, including the station at Colo Vale. Camden County, New South Wales
Camden County was one of the original Nineteen Counties in New South Wales and is now one of the 141 cadastral divisions of New South Wales. It included the coastal area near Wollongong south to the Shoalhaven River, and also inland encompassing Berrima and Picton. Its western boundary was the Wollondilly River. The first settlement in the area was Camden Park, established by John Macarthur in 1806, just across the Nepean River from Cumberland County. It was the first land across the Nepean to be settled. Camden is a present-day suburb of Sydney in the same area, although parts of it are in Cumberland. Camden County is named in honour of John Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden (1759–1840). The Electoral district of Western Division of Camden and the Electoral district of Eastern Division of Camden were the first electoral districts for the area, between 1856 and 1859. The Southern Highlands Line (SHL) is an intercity rail service that services the Macarthur, Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands regions of New South Wales. Hill Top, New South Wales
Hill Top is a Northern Village of the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, in Wingecarribee Shire. Previous names of the village include ''Hilltop'' and ''Jellore''. It is a 17 km drive to Mittagong and around 10 km drive to the Hume Highway via Colo Vale. It is roughly 6–8 km to Yerrinbool as the crow flies. Nattai River
The Nattai River, a perennial river that is part of the Hawkesbury- Nepean catchment, is located in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales, Australia. Course and features The Nattai River rises on the Mittagong Range within the Great Dividing Range, south of Mittagong, and flows generally north northwest and then north northeast, joined by nine tributaries including the Little River, before reaching its confluence with the Wollondilly River within Lake Burragorang southwest of the locality of Nattai. Hume Highway
The Hume Highway, including the sections now known as the Hume Freeway and the Hume Motorway, is one of Australia's major inter-city national highways, running for between Melbourne in the southwest and Sydney in the northeast. Yerrinbool, New South Wales
Yerrinbool is one of the Northern Villages of the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, in the Wingecarribee Shire. Yerrinbool is accessible from the Hume Highway (via Bargo or Alpine) and is about a drive from nearby Mittagong. It is to Hill Top as the crow flies, accessible by foot via a fire trail. It is on the western edge of the Upper Nepean Nature Reserve, a vast area of forest, lakes and dams between Yerrinbool and the coastal communities around Wollongong (accessible by a circuitous by-road).
