Collin Freeland
Collin William Martin Freeland, (31 January 1933 – 10 April 2021) was an Australian public servant and policymaker. He is best known for his time heading the Department of Aviation and the Department of Transport in the 1980s. Life and career Freeland was born on 31 January 1933. The Department of Aviation was an Australian government department that existed between May 1982 and July 1987. The Department of Aviation was announced by Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser as a new agency in 1982. George Warwick Smith
George Henry Warwick Smith (3 October 1916 – 27 December 1999) was a senior Australian public servant. Early life Warwick Smith was born in Charters Towers, Queensland on 3 November 1916. He attended high school at Brisbane Grammar School, but left early at the age of 15. He went on to matriculate and graduate with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. Career Warwick Smith moved from a job at the Queensland Education Department to the Commonwealth Public Service in the Department of Commerce. He soon left the public service to join the Army, serving during the Second World War between 1941 and 1945. Peter Stephen Wilenski, (10 May 1939 – 3 November 1994) was a senior Australian public servant and ambassador. He was a champion of women's rights and equal opportunity. Early life Peter Wilenski was born in Łódź, Poland on 10 May 1939. He came to Australia in 1943 as a Jewish refugee, due to World War II conflict and persecution of Jewish people in his home country. His family spent time in a Soviet internment camp before coming to Australia. For high school education, he attended Sydney Boys High School.
