Colin O'Brien (hurler)
Colin O'Brien (born 2000) is an Irish hurler who plays for club side Liscarroll Churchtown Gaels and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career O'Brien first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Liscarroll Churchtown Gaels combination. He first appeared on the inter-county scene as a corner-forward on the Cork under-17 team that won the one-off All-Ireland Under-17 Championship in 2017. O'Brien was also a member of the Cork minor team that lost the 2017 All-Ireland minor final to Galway. He progressed onto the under-20 team and won an All-Ireland Under-20 Championship title in 2020. O'Brien joined the Cork senior hurling team as a member of the extended training panel in 2021 and made his debut against Offaly in the 2022 National League. Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Churchtown-Liscarroll, County Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Gaelic games had been played in the parish of Churchtown-Liscarroll since the early days of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Liscarroll GAA Club was established in 1885, while the Churchtown GAA Club was formed five years later in 1890. Both clubs spent the majority of their existence operating in the various North Cork junior grades. An amalgamation at juvenile and underage levels was followed by a similar alliance at adult level in 2017 with the creation of the new Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels club. 2020 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship
The 2020 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship was the second staging of the All-Ireland Under-20 Championship and the 57th staging overall of a hurling championship for players between the minor and senior grades. The championship was scheduled to begin in May 2020, however, it was postponed indefinitely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. The championship eventually began on 19 October 2020 and, after being suspended once again, ended on 10 July 2021. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions in search of a third successive title, however, they were beaten by Cork in the Munster final. The 2024 Fitzgibbon Cup was the 107th staging of the Fitzgibbon Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1912. The draw for the group stage fixtures took place on 5 December 2023. The competition ran from 17 January to 17 February 2024. University of Limerick were the defending champions. The Fitzgibbon Cup final was played on 17 February 2024 at Tom Healy Park in Abbeydorney, between Mary Immaculate College and University of Limerick, in what was their second meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in eight years.
