Coleman Glacier (Antarctica)
The Ames Range () is a range of snow-covered, flat-topped, steep-sided mountains, extending in a north–south direction for and forming a right angle with the eastern end of the Flood Range in Marie Byrd Land, Antarctica. Location The Ames Range is northwest of the Mount Bursey massif in the Flood Range, from which it is separated by Forrest Pass, and southeast of the Berry Glacier and Demas Range. Glaciers draining the range include Coleman Glacier and Rosenberg Glacier on the west side, Jacoby Glacier on the east side and Herbst Glacier to the north. Peaks include Mount Andrus, Mount Boenninghausen, Mount Kosciusco and Mount Kauffman. Other features include Lind Ridge, Gardiner Ridge and Brown Valley. The Coleman Medal is an Australian rules football award given annually to the Australian Football League (AFL) player who kicks the most Laws of Australian rules football#Scoring, goals in the Australian Football League#Premiership season, home-and-away season. Coleman Manufacturing Company
The Coleman Manufacturing Company (1897–1904) had the first cotton mill in the United States owned and operated by African Americans. Organized in 1897 by Warren Clay Coleman and others, and operating under original leadership until 1904, it was located in the Piedmont area about two miles from the county seat of Concord, North Carolina in Cabarrus County. Textile manufacturing had been established here before the American Civil War, but the mills hired only white industrial workers. The Coleman property later became part of Franklin Cotton Mills and a Fieldcrest Cannon plant. Photographs of the mill and a description were featured in the ''Negro Exhibit'' of the United States installation at the Paris Exposition of 1900 in France, showing African-American progress in the US. Jamye Coleman Williams (December 15, 1918 – January 19, 2022) was an American activist for social reform and justice, a scholar, and a leader within academe and the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.). Early life Williams was born on December 15, 1918, in Louisville, Kentucky. Her father was an A.M.E. preacher and her mother a poet and musician. Coleman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 7,684. The county seat is Coleman. The county was founded in 1858 and organized in 1864. It is named for Robert M. Coleman, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and soldier at the Battle of San Jacinto. Coleman City, also called Emily City, is a ghost town in San Diego County, California. It lies at an elevation of 3601 feet. It is located on State Highway 79 where it crosses Coleman Creek, about four miles west of Julian. History Coleman City was founded in the early months of 1870 by the first placer miners who rushed to Coleman Creek, following the news of the discovery of gold there by A. E. Coleman who first discovered gold there in January 1870. Coleman, with earlier experience in the gold camps in Northern California, subsequently formed the Coleman Mining District and was its recorder. He also established the Emily City mining town site.
