Coelenterata is a term encompassing the animal phyla Cnidaria (corals, true jellies, sea anemones, sea pens, and their relatives) and Ctenophora (comb jellies). The name comes , referring to the hollow body cavity common to these two phyla. They have very simple tissue organization, with only two layers of cells (ectoderm and endoderm), along with a middle undifferentiated layer called the mesoglea, and radial symmetry. Cnidaria ( ) is a phylum under kingdom Animalia containing over 11,000 species of aquatic invertebrates found both in fresh water, freshwater and marine environments (predominantly the latter), including jellyfish, hydroid (zoology), hydroids, sea anemones, corals and some of the smallest marine parasites. Hatschek
Berthold Hatschek (3 April 1854 in Skrbeň – 18 January 1941 in Vienna) was an Austrian zoologist remembered for embryological and morphological studies of invertebrates. Life Berthold Hatschek studied zoology in Vienna under Carl Claus (1835–1899), and in Leipzig with Rudolf Leuckart (1822–1898). He gained his doctorate at the University of Leipzig with a dissertation titled ''Beiträge zur Entwicklungsgeschichte der Lepidopteren''. Hatschek was deeply influenced by the works of Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919). In 1885 he was appointed professor of zoology at Charles University in Prague, and from 1896 was a professor and director of the second zoological institute at the University of Vienna. Hatschek suffered from severe depression, which greatly affected his work in the latter stages of his life. Diploblasty is a condition of the blastula in which there are two primary germ layers: the ectoderm and endoderm. Colloblasts are unique, multicellular structures found in ctenophores. They are widespread in the tentacles of these animals and are used to capture prey.
