Coalición Republicana
The Republican Coalition (), previously known as the Multicolor Coalition (), is a big tent political coalition formed in Uruguay in 2019. It is led by Uruguayan ex-president Luis Lacalle Pou and is composed of Lacalle's centre-right National Party (PN) and centre-left Colorado Party (PC), the right-wing Open Cabildo (CA), the centrist Independent Party (PI), and the right-wing Party of the People (PG). This alliance competed in the 2019 general elections against the Broad Front (FA). The Luis Lacalle Pou- Beatriz Argimón ticket was elected President of the Republic and Vice President respectively. Chamber Of Representatives Of Uruguay
The Chamber of Representatives () is the lower house of the General Assembly of Uruguay (''Asamblea General de Uruguay''). The Chamber has 99 members, elected for a five-year term by proportional representation with at least two members per department. The composition and powers of the Chamber of Representatives are established by Article Ninety of the Uruguayan Constitution. It also requires that members must be aged at least 25 and have been a citizen of Uruguay for five years. It is the competence of the Chamber of Representatives to accuse in the Senate members of both houses, the President and Vice President of the Republic, the Ministers of State, the members of the Supreme Court, the Administrative Litigation Court, the Court of Accounts and the Electoral Court, either for violating the Constitution or other serious crimes. Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou
Luis Alberto Aparicio Alejandro Lacalle Pou (, ; born 11 August 1973), is a Uruguayan politician and lawyer, who served as the 42nd president of Uruguay from 2020 to 2025. The son of former president Luis Alberto Lacalle, Lacalle Pou attended The British Schools of Montevideo and graduated from the Catholic University of Uruguay in 1998 with a law degree. A member of the National Party, he was first elected to the Chamber of Representatives in the 1999 election as a National Representative for the Canelones Department, a position he held from 2000 to 2015. During the first session of the 47th Legislature (2011–2012) he chaired the lower house of the General Assembly. He also served as Senator from 2015 to 2019. 2019 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on Sunday, 27 October 2019 to elect the President of Uruguay, President and General Assembly of Uruguay, General Assembly. As no presidential candidate received a majority in the first round of voting, a runoff election took place on 24 November. In the 2014 Uruguayan general election, 2014 elections, the left-wing Broad Front (Uruguay), Broad Front had won a third consecutive election with absolute majorities in both houses of the General Assembly. Julio María Sanguinetti Coirolo (; born 6 January 1936) often known by his initials JMS, is a Uruguayan former lawyer, journalist and politician of the Colorado Party (Uruguay), Colorado Party (PC) who served as the President of Uruguay as the 35th president from 1985 to 1990, and again as the 37th president from 1995 to 2000. The vice president of Uruguay is the person with the second highest position in the executive branch of the Uruguayan government, after the President of Uruguay. Beatriz Argimón Cedeira (born 14 August 1961) is a Uruguayan politician and notary of the National Party who served as the 18th vice president of Uruguay from 2020 to 2025, being the first woman to be elected in that position. After graduating from the University of the Republic in 1989 with a degree in notarization, she also studied human rights, family law, and juvenile law. She served as a National Representative for the Montevideo Department between 2000 and 2010, and has been a member of the National Party Board since 2009. The Independent Party () is a Christian humanist political party in Uruguay. The party is led by Pablo Mieres, who was presidential candidate in the 2004 national elections and in 2009. ''Cabildo Abierto'' ( Spanish for "Open cabildo" or "Town hall meeting") is an Uruguayan political party founded in 2019. The party is described as right-wing populist, nationalist and conservative, as well as mostly characterized as far-right on the mainstream political spectre. The Colorado Party (, , PC) is a liberal political party in Uruguay. Its existence can be traced back to the origins of the Uruguayan republic, in the 1830s, and since then until the late 1990s it remained the most dominant political party in the country, holding power almost uninterruptedly (alternating with the National Party, its greatest rival) until its electoral collapse in the 2004 elections, when the Party obtained only 10% of the vote.
