Coalición Canaria
The Canarian Coalition (, CC or CCa) is a regionalist and Canarian nationalist political party in Spain operating in the Canary Islands. The party's aim is for greater autonomy for the islands but not independence. Its position has been labeled as centrist and centre-right. The party governed the Canary Islands from 1993 to 2019; and currently since 2023 under Fernando Clavijo Batlle's leadership. It usually negotiates with the plurality party at the Cortes to form a majority in exchange for resources for the islands. It also governs the local administrations of Tenerife, La Palma, and Fuerteventura, as well as having majority control in some of the town councils on the Canary Islands. Fernando Clavijo Batlle
Fernando Clavijo Batlle (born 10 August 1971) is a Spanish politician and incumbent president of the Canary Islands. A member of the Canarian Coalition, he previously served as president from 2015 to 2019. Education He studied economics and business at the University of La Laguna, working in the private sector at the same time. He then became an advisor to the musical activities organization of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Involvement in the Canarian nationalists He joined the Tenerife Independents Group (ATI) in 1992. Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura () is one of the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, geographically part of Macaronesia, and politically part of Spain. It is located away from the coast of North Africa. The island was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2009. Fuerteventura belongs to the Province of Las Palmas, one of the two provinces that form the autonomous community of the Canary Islands. La Palma
La Palma (, ), also known as ''La isla bonita'' () and historically San Miguel de La Palma, is the most northwesterly island of the Canary Islands, a Spanish autonomous community and archipelago in Macaronesia in the North Atlantic Ocean. Canarian nationalism is a political movement that encourages the national consciousness of the Canarian people. The term includes several ideological trends, ranging from a demand for further autonomy within Spain to the right to self-determination. 2023 Spanish Local Elections
The 2023 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 28 May 2023, to elect all 66,976 councillors in the municipalities of Spain, all 1,191 provincial seats in 41 provinces (including 38 indirectly-elected provincial deputations and the three directly-elected Basque General Assemblies) and 233 seats in eleven island councils (seven Canarian island cabildos and four Balearic island councils, all directly-elected). A ''cabildo insular'' () is the government and administration institution of each of the seven major islands in the Canary Islands archipelago: Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
