Clueless (musical)
''Clueless'' (also known as Clueless, The Musical) is a jukebox musical with a book by Amy Heckerling based on her 1995 film of the same name, itself loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel '' Emma'', updating the setting to modern-day Beverly Hills. The musical premiered Off-Broadway on November 20, 2018, with an official opening on December 11, in the Pershing Square Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre. Performances ran through January 12, 2019. While financially successful, critical reception was mixed to negative in comparison to other teen movie musicals and to the movie. No other productions have been announced so far. As a non-traditional jukebox musical, the show uses '80s and '90s songs as the entire score, with lyric changes to fit the scene. Amy Heckerling
Amy Heckerling (born May 7, 1954) is an American filmmaker. An alumna of both New York University and the American Film Institute, she directed the commercially successful films '' Fast Times at Ridgemont High'' (1982), '' National Lampoon's European Vacation'' (1985), '' Look Who's Talking'' (1989), and '' Clueless'' (1995). Heckerling is a recipient of AFI's Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal celebrating her creative talents and artistic achievements. Early life and education Heckerling was born on May 7, 1954 in The Bronx, New York City, to a bookkeeper mother and an accountant father. She had a Jewish upbringing and remembers that the apartment building where she spent her early childhood was full of Holocaust survivors. The New Group, is a New York City Off-Broadway theatrical troupe founded by Artistic Director Scott Elliott, that produced its first play, Mike Leigh's ''Ecstasy'', in 1995. "Shoop" is the lead single released from American hip hop group Salt-N-Pepa's fourth studio album, '' Very Necessary'' (1993). It was produced by Sandra 'Pepa' Denton, Mark Sparks and group member Salt. Megan Sikora (born April 11, 1979) is an American actress who has appeared on Broadway in several musicals. She originated the role of Bambi Bernet in ''Curtains'' in 2007. He is known for his scenic design for the play '' Act One'', which earned him the 2014 Tony Award for Best Scenic Design in a Play. Early life Boritt was born to American Civil War scholar Gabor Boritt and his wife, Elizabeth Boritt, an aspiring opera singer.
