Cloverdale, Lane County, Oregon
Cloverdale is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is approximately northeast of Creswell on Oregon Route 222. Cloverdale was the site of one of the first sawmills in Lane County, built in 1851. A gristmill was added in 1852. A townsite was laid out at Cloverdale in 1855, but the plat was later canceled. Cloverdale was considered a "thing of the past" as early as 1884. At one time Cloverdale had a store, and a school, and a blacksmith forge. The former Cloverdale Methodist Episcopal Church now serves as a wedding chapel. The church was built in 1904, and later served Baptist and Mennonite congregations and then as a community hall. The building was purchased by the McKinlay family in 1999 and restored. The school building, constructed in 1911, is also still standing. The Register-Guard
''The Register-Guard'' is a daily newspaper in the northwestern United States, published in Eugene, Oregon. It was formed in a 1930 merger of two Eugene papers, the ''Eugene Daily Guard'' and the ''Morning Register''. The paper serves the Eugene-Springfield, Oregon, Springfield area, as well as the Oregon Coast, Umpqua River valley, and surrounding areas. As of 2019, it had a supposed circulation of 18,886 daily. The newspaper has been owned by Gannett, The Gannett Company since Gannett's 2019 merger with GateHouse Media. It had been sold to GateHouse in 2018. Creswell Chronicle
''The Chronicle'' is a weekly newspaper serving the Southern Willamette Valley in Lane County, Oregon, United States. Its area of coverage includes Springfield, Creswell, Cottage Grove and Pleasant Hill. History ''The Creswell Chronicle'' was first published on Sept. 30, 1909, by George H. Baxter. Chester Noland bought the paper from Baxter on April 10, 1913, who then required the paper in February 1916 but closed it in December 1917. Ival S. Wilson began publishing a spiritual successor to the paper called the ''Creswell New Era'' on Dec. 20,1946. Printing was briefly suspended in October 1948 after the paper's office caught fire. The ''Creswell New Era'' ceased on Nov. 30, 1950. G.G. "Gerry" Sittser relaunched the ''Creswell Chronicle'' on Feb. 1, 1965. A year later he sold it to C.D. Methodist Episcopal Church
The Methodist Episcopal Church (MEC) was the oldest and largest Methodist denomination in the United States from its founding in 1784 until 1939. It was also the first religious denomination in the US to organize itself nationally. Sawmill
A sawmill (saw mill, saw-mill) or lumber mill is a facility where logging, logs are cut into lumber.
