Clinch County, Georgia
Clinch County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,749. The county seat is Homerville. The county was created on February 14, 1850, named in honor of Duncan Lamont Clinch. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (2.9%) is water. It is the fourth-largest county in Georgia by land area and third-largest by total area. Eastern and southeastern portions of the county lie within the Okefenokee Swamp and its federally protected areas. The vast majority of Clinch County is located in the Upper Suwannee River sub-basin of the Suwannee River basin, with just a portion of the western and northwestern edge of the county, southwest and well northwest of Du Pont, located in the Alapaha River sub-basin of the same Suwannee River basin. State Route 31 (SR 31) is a state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of Lowndes, Lanier, Clinch, Atkinson, Coffee, Telfair, Wheeler, Dodge, Laurens, and Johnson counties in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway connects the Florida state line, south of Clyattville with Wrightsville, via Valdosta, Douglas, and Dublin. SR 31 formerly had a segment from Homerville to Pearson, but it was later decommissioned. State Route 168 (SR 168) is a state highway that runs west–east through portions of Berrien, Lanier, and Clinch counties in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description The route begins at an intersection with US 129/ SR 11/ SR 76/ SR 125 in Nashville. It heads southeast to an intersection with SR 64/ SR 135 north of Lakeland, where SR 64 begins a concurrency to the east. Farther to the east, SR 64 leaves the concurrency to the northeast.
