Clifton is an List of towns in Virginia, incorporated town located in southwestern Fairfax County, Virginia, Fairfax County, Virginia, United States, with a population of 243 at the time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Incorporated by the Virginia General Assembly, General Assembly on March 9, 1902, Clifton is one of only three towns in the county, the other two being the much more populous Vienna, Virginia, Vienna and Herndon, Virginia, Herndon. Clifton's history begins pre-colonially, when the area was used as hunting grounds by the local Doeg tribe, Dogue Native American tribe. A railroad siding was constructed here during the American Civil War, Civil War, and the area became titled as Devereux Station.
