John Thomas Claridge
Sir John Thomas Claridge (bapt. 1 February 1792 – 20 June 1868) was a British barrister who served as Recorder for the Straits Settlements in what is now Malaysia from 1825 to 1829. Claridge was recalled from his post after a well-publicised bitter quarrel with the East India Company. He was later involved in a public scandal regarding the will for a wealthy estate. Early life John Claridge was born in 1792, into a middle-class family in Sevenoaks, Kent in England. He was the son of John Fellowes Claridge, a solicitor and partner in a law firm with Francis Austen, a great-uncle of Jane Austen. His younger brother, George Claridge (1794–1856), was a solicitor who practiced in the family firm in Sevenoaks and a famous amateur cricketer. Steve Claridge
Stephen Edward Claridge (born 10 April 1966) is an English football pundit, coach and former professional player who is the manager of Fleetlands. He was a pundit for BBC Sport football shows including ''Football Focus'' and ''The Football League Show'', until 2014 when he became both manager and a director at newly formed Salisbury. Claridge's career was known for its longevity and diversity. Born in Portsmouth, he has spent a number of periods with teams from Hampshire and Dorset, having begun his career with non-league Fareham Town in 1983. After failing to gain a permanent contract at local league club AFC Bournemouth, Claridge spent three years at Weymouth, in his longest single spell with any club. George Frederick Claridge
George Frederick Claridge (24 October 1852 – 27 April 1931) was a South Australian businessman and philanthropist, longtime chairman of the Home for Incurables. History Claridge was born in Bicester, Oxfordshire, the second son of Samuel Frederick Claridge and Annie Claridge, née Chinner. Her parents were early colonists of South Australia who had prospered and were on a return visit to England when the couple married. They too settled in the new colony, arriving at Adelaide in 1854, and had a home in William Street, Norwood. Claridge was educated at Thomas Caterer's Commercial College in Beaumont. The Claridge Hi-Tec and its antecedent the Goncz High-Tech Long Pistol are semi-automatic pistols designed by Hungarian inventor Lajos John Goncz. This unique firearm features a telescopic bolt design encased in a tubular upper receiver with a forged steel frame, button rifled match barrels, and 16-round magazines standard. History Goncz Armament, Inc. of North Hollywood, CA designed, prototyped, and produced a few hundred High-Tech Long Pistols models GA and GS between 1984 and 1990. The company made survival daggers using the same pistol grip for the knife handles. The Claridge pistols and carbines were based on this design. Ryan Quinlan Claridge (born April 12, 1981) is an American former professional football linebacker. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots in the 2005 season, but was released early during 2006 training camp. He played college football at UNLV and is currently the owner of Big Apple Bagels in Traverse City, Michigan, which he purchased in May 2022. Bruce Claridge (1934 – April 17, 1999) was a Canadian professional Canadian football, football End (Canadian football), end who played six seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos. Dr. Gordon Sidney Claridge was a British psychologist and author, best known for his theoretical and empirical work on the concept of schizotypy or psychosis-proneness. Biography Claridge took his first degree in Psychology at University College, London, in 1953. His PhD work was at the Institute of Psychiatry, London, jointly supervised by Hans Eysenck and Neil O’Connor. He qualified under in-service training as a clinical psychologist, and from 1957-61 worked as Eysenck’s Research Assistant, based in the Royal Victoria Military Hospital, Netley, Southampton. Claridge then moved to Bristol as Head of Clinical Psychology at Barrow Hospital and part-time lecturer in the Bristol University Department of Psychology. George Claridge
George Claridge (21 May 1794 – 27 August 1856) was an English lawyer who played first-class cricket in the early 19th century. Claridge was born at Sevenoaks in Kent in 1794, the son of John Fellowes Claridge and his wife Ann (''née'' Swayne). Manuela Kasper-Claridge (born 26 October 1959 in Berlin) is a German journalist. She is the editor-in-chief of Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) with around 3,000 employees and freelancers from 60 countries. Early life and career Manuela Kasper-Claridge studied Economics and Sociology at the Freie Universität Berlin and graduated in 1984. From 1985 to 1986 she completed an internship at West Berlin's public radio and television service SFB (today Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, RBB). Later she trained TV news producers and directors.
