Clarendon Parish, New Brunswick
Clarendon is a geographic parish in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, located in the interior to the north of Point Lepreau and southwest of CFB Gagetown. For governance purposes, Clarendon is part of the Capital Region rural district, which is a member of the Capital Region Regional Service Commission. Prior to the 2023 governance reform, the parish comprised a single local service district (LSD), which was a member of Capital Region Service Commission (RSC11). The Census subdivision of the same name shares the parish's boundaries. Origin of name The parish was named for Clarendon Settlement, which in turn was named in honour of the Earl of Clarendon, British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs at the time of it being laid out. Petersville Parish, New Brunswick
Petersville is a geographic parish in Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada. Prior to the 2023 governance reform, for governance purposes it was divided between CFB Gagetown and the local service districts of Wirral-Enniskillen and the parish of Petersville. Wirral-Enniskillen was part of Capital Region Service Commission (RSC11) and Petersville Parish was part of the Fundy Regional Service Commission (FRSC). Origin of name William Francis Ganong states that the parish was named in honour of Harry Peters, then Speaker of the House of Assembly. Peters' tenure as Speaker actually ended in 1827 but he continued to serve as MLA until 1843. Harry's brother Charles Jeffery Peters was Attorney General of New Brunswick when the parish was erected. Oromocto River
The Oromocto River is a tributary of the Saint John River in southwest New Brunswick, Canada. The Oromocto River is formed by the combination of the North and South Branches near Fredericton Junction, and flows north-northeast for to its mouth at the Saint John River in the town of Oromocto. Lake Utopia (New Brunswick)
Lake Utopia is located in eastern Charlotte County, New Brunswick. The southern shore of the lake is one kilometre northeast of the town of St. George. The lake is connected to the Magaguadavic River by the second deepest natural canal in the world. Lake Utopia is approximately 7 kilometres long and between 0.8 and 2.8 kilometres in width. The lake level varies throughout the year, as more or less water is allowed through a hydroelectric dam on the Magaguadavic River in St. George. The lake is surrounded by mixed Acadian forest and its shoreline has been traditionally dotted by both rustic camps and large summer homes however over the last decade an increase in year-round home development has occurred.
