Clara () is a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Ossory (Roman Catholic): also one of the Civil parishes in Ireland. Both parishes are located in County Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland. Harry Ryan (hurler)
Harry Ryan (7 April 1957 – 24 November 2020) was an Irish hurler who played for the Kilkenny Senior Hurling team in the All Ireland Hurling Championship and his parish club Clara and at inter-county level. Ryan also played with Mount Leinster Rangers and was involved in coaching after his retirement from the game. He usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Ryan also achieved winning all Irelands at minor, U21 and Senior completing the holy grail of an intercounty hurlers career . Lester Ryan
Lester Ryan (18 April 1959 – 6 June 2020) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder at club level with Clara and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. His brother, Harry Ryan, and his nephew, Lester Ryan, were All-Ireland Championship-winners with Kilkenny. Playing career St. Kieran's College As a student at St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny, Ryan played hurling at all levels before being added to the college's senior team. He was just 15-years-old when he claimed a Leinster Colleges Championship title as a non-playing substitute in 1975, after a 6–12 to 4–03 victory over Birr's Presentation College. Ryna later claimed an All-Ireland Colleges Championship medal after coming on as a substitute in the 6–09 to 2–03 defeat of Coláiste Iognáid Rís in the All-Ireland final. Paddy Prendergast (hurler)
Patrick Prendergast (born 1958) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back and as a left wing-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Clara, County Kilkenny, Prendergast first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1978 championship. Prendergast immediately became a regular member of the team and won three All-Ireland medals, six Leinster medals, and three National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Prendergast won one Railway Cup medal as a non-playing substitute. Jim Langton
James Langton (18 January 1918 – 18 April 1987) was an Irish hurler who usually played as a left wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Gowran, County Kilkenny, Phelan first played competitive hurling whilst at school in Kilkenny CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team. He made his senior debut in the 1938 championship. Langton went on to play a key part for Kilkenny during a lean era for the county, and won two All-Ireland medals and seven Leinster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team for fourteen years, Langton won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he won four championship medal with Éire Óg. Clara GAA
Clara GAA ( ga, CLG Chláraigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Clara in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Focused mainly on hurling and camogie, the dominant sports in the county, Clara's greatest achievements to date are victories in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1986 2013, and in 2015 they secured their third title. Despite limited success at county level, Clara has produced several hurlers who have gone on play at inter-county level for Kilkenny. Jim Langton was born in the area, a winner of All-Ireland medals in 1939 and 1947, and a place on the GAA Hurling Team of the Century chosen in 1984. Clara Castle
Clara Castle is a tower house (''caiseal'') located in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Location Clara Castle is located about east of Kilkenny City, near one of the headwaters of the Nore. History Clara Castle was built in the late 15th/early 16th century by the Shortall family, who lived there until c. 1640. Henry Johnson occupied the castle in the Cromwellian period, and it later passed to the Byrnes; occupants include Anthony Byrne (1656–1720), Lewis Byrne (1690–1766), Mathew Byrne (1694–1754), Anthony Byrne (1725–1810), Michael Byrne (1762–1835). The castle was occupied up until 1905. Building Clara Castle is five storeys tall with a vault above the third floor. On the north side is a bawn measuring .
