This article lists the 73 localities in Israel that the Ministry of Interior (Israel), Israeli Ministry of Interior has designated as a City council (Israel), city council. It excludes the 4 List of Israeli settlements with city status in the West Bank, Israeli settlements in the West Bank designated as cities, but Israeli occupation of the West Bank, occupied East Jerusalem is included within Jerusalem. The list is based on the current index of the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Within Local government in Israel, Israel's system of local government, an urban municipality can be granted a city council by the Interior Ministry when its population exceeds 20,000. Arraba (; ), also known as 'Arrabat al-Battuf, is an Arab citizens of Israel, Arab city in Israel. Arad, Israel
Arad ( ) is a city in the Southern District of Israel. It is located on the border of the Negev and the Judaean deserts, west of the Dead Sea and east of Beersheba. The city is home to a diverse population of in , including Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews (both secular and religious), Bedouins and Black Hebrews, as well as new immigrants. After attempts to settle the area in the 1920s, Arad was founded in November 1962 as an Israeli development town, the first planned city in Israel. Afula
Afula () is a city in the Northern District of Israel, often known as the "Capital of the Valley" due to its strategic location in the Jezreel Valley. As of , the city had a population of . Afula's ancient tell (settlement mound) suggests habitation from the Late Chalcolithic to the Ayyubid period. It has been proposed that Afula is the location of the village of Arbela mentioned in the 4th-century Onomasticon of Eusebius and the 7th-century Samaritan village of ''Kirjath Ophlatha''. A fortress was built at the site during the Crusader or Mamluk period. A small Arab Palestinian village during the Ottoman period, it was sold in 1872 along with the entire Jezreel Valley to the Lebanese Sursock family. Northern District (Israel)
The Northern District (; ) is one of Israel's six administrative districts. The Northern District has a land area of 4,473 km2, making it the second largest district in Israel. The Golan Heights has been run as a sub-district of the North District of Israel since the 1981 Golan Heights Law was passed, although the claim is only recognized by the United States while United Nations Security Council condemned the annexation in its Resolution 497 without enforcing it.
