Commune-level town (), a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam is divided into 11,162 units along with Ward (Vietnam), ward and Commune (Vietnam), commune have equal status. By virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, township are officially classified into Urban area of Vietnam, Class-2, Class-3, Class-4 or Class-5. Regions Of Vietnam
The Vietnamese government often groups the various provinces and municipalities into three regions: Northern Vietnam, Central Vietnam, and Southern Vietnam. South Central Coast
In Vietnam, South Central Coast () and South Central Region () are two terms which can refer to the same region or two regions that do not correspond to each other. South Central Coast (sometimes called "South Central Region") consists of the independent municipality of Đà Nẵng and seven other provinces (picture 1), which means South Central Coast doesn't include Central Highlands (picture 2). Nevertheless, the term "South Central Region" can also be used to include Central Highlands as it is part of southern part of Central Vietnam. Districts (), also known as rural districts or counties, are one of several types of second-tier administrative subdivisions of Vietnam, the other types being urban districts (), provincial cities (), municipal cities (), and district-level towns ().
