The Parish of Good Shepherd and St. Joseph is a parish under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located in Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, New York. The church address is Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry Street, Rhinebeck, New York 12572 The parish was founded in 1862 with the establishment of St. Joseph's in Rhinecliff. In 1903, St. Joseph's established the mission church of the Good Shepherd in nearby Rhinebeck. Before long it became apparent that the mission in Rhinebeck had the larger congregation. Good Shepherd became a parish in its own right in 1901. The two parishes were then subsequently merged with Good Shepherd being the parish church and St. Joseph's reduced to a dependent chapel. Rondout, New York
Rondout (pronounced "ron doubt"), is situated in Ulster County, New York on the Hudson River at the mouth of Rondout Creek. Originally a maritime village, the arrival of the Delaware and Hudson Canal helped create a city that dwarfed nearby Kingston. Rondout would become the third largest port on the Hudson River. Rondout merged with Kingston in 1872. It now includes the Rondout-West Strand Historic District. History Rondout stands at the mouth of Rondout Creek, which empties into the Hudson through a large, protected tidal area. It was established by the Dutch in the seventeenth century as an Indian trading post.
