Christine Lahti
Christine Ann Lahti (born April 4, 1950) is an American actress and filmmaker. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 1984 film '' Swing Shift''. Her other film roles include '' ...And Justice for All'' (1979), ''Housekeeping'' (1987), '' Running on Empty'' (1988), '' Leaving Normal'' (1992), and '' A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood'' (2019). For her directorial debut with the 1995 short film '' Lieberman in Love'', she won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Lahti made her Broadway debut in 1980 as a replacement in ''Loose Ends'' and went on to star in the Broadway productions of '' Present Laughter'' (1982) and '' The Heidi Chronicles'' (1989). ''Present Laughter'' is a comic play written by Noël Coward in 1939 but not produced until 1942 because the Second World War began while it was in rehearsal, and the British theatres closed. The title is drawn from a song in Shakespeare's ''Twelfth Night'' that urges ''carpe diem'' ("present mirth hath present laughter"). The play has been frequently revived in Britain, the US and beyond. The plot depicts a few days in the life of the successful and self-obsessed light comedy actor Garry Essendine as he prepares to travel for a touring commitment in Africa. The ''Tucson Citizen'' was a daily newspaper in Tucson, Arizona. It was founded by Richard C. McCormick with John Wasson as publisher and editor on October 15, 1870, as the ''Arizona Citizen''. When it ceased printing on May 16, 2009, the daily circulation was approximately 17,000, down from a high of 60,000 in the 1960s.
