Phrynichus (tragic Poet)
Phrynichus (; ), son of Polyphradmon and pupil of Thespis, was one of the earliest of the Greek tragedians. Some ancients regarded him as the real founder of tragedy. Phrynichus is said to have died in Sicily. His son Polyphrasmon was also a playwright. Phrynichus wrote two out of the three known Greek tragedies that dealt with contemporary history from episodes from the Persian Wars (no longer extant). Works He gained his first victory in a drama contest in 511 BC. His famous play, the ''Capture of Miletus'' or the ''Sack of Miletus'', was probably composed shortly after the conquest of that city by the Persians during the Ionian Revolt. Miletus was a colony of Athens and therefore traditionally held especially dear to the mother city. Auxesia (Greek Mythology)
Auxesia () was in Greek mythology the goddess who grants growth and prosperity to the fields, sometimes distinct and sometimes an epithet of the goddess Persephone. Her name is the Greek word for "increase". She is often associated with the similar goddess , as the pair together -- similar to the pair of Demeter and Persephone -- were worshipped in several communities across the Saronic Gulf, though in some communities they may have been worshipped more as heroes than genuinely divine goddesses. An ''ekkyklêma'' or ''eccyclema'' (; ; "roll-out machine") was a wheeled platform rolled out through a '' skênê'' in ancient Greek theatre. It was used to bring interior scenes out into the sight of the audience. Some ancient sources suggest that it may have been revolved or turned. Made of wooden beams and pulley systems, the device was used to lift an actor into the air, usually representing flight.
