Chomedey, Quebec
Chomedey () is a district in the southwest of the city of Laval, Quebec, Laval and was a separate municipality until the municipal mergers in 1965. History On April 1, 1961, the towns of and and the city of Saint-Martin, Laval, Quebec, Saint-Martin were merged, giving birth to the city of Chomedey. The city was named Chomedey in honor of Paul de Chomedey, Sieur de Maisonneuve, Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve, founder of Montreal. Chomedey's city hall became the city hall for all of Laval. The merger project was first launched by the administration of the city of L'Abord à Plouffe. On August 10, 1960, it passed a resolution expressing its desire to merge the three municipalities and the city of Laval-des-Rapides, under the name "Cité de Laval". Vimont () is a district in the centre of Laval, Quebec. It was a separate city until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965. Until 1960 the name was Saint-Elzéar. Geography Vimont is delimited north-west by Sainte-Rose, north-east by Auteuil, east by Duvernay, south-west by Chomedey and south-east by Pont-Viau. Quebec Route 117
Route 117, the Trans Canada Highway Northern Route, is a provincial highway within the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Quebec, running between Montreal and the Quebec/Ontario border where it continues as Ontario Highway 66, Highway 66 east of McGarry, Ontario. It is an important road since it is the only direct route between southern Quebec and the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. Route 117 was formerly Route 11 and ran from Montreal north towards Mont-Laurier and then followed the Gatineau River south towards Gatineau. The 2006 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population. Census day was May 16, 2006. The following census was the 2011 census.
