Choguel Kokalla Maïga
Choguel Kokalla Maïga (born 1958) is a Malian politician, who served as the 18th prime minister of Mali from 2021 until his firing by Interim President Assimi Goïta in November 2024. He served in the government as Minister of Industry and Trade from 2002 to 2007 and later as Minister of the Digital Economy, Information and Communication from 2015 to 2016. On 4 June 2021, he was named interim prime minister by coup leader and newly appointed President of Transition and Interim President, Assimi Goïta. Life and career Born in Tabango, in the Gao Region of French Sudan, Maïga is a telecommunications engineer by profession, and is a close associate of Moussa Traoré. He was once a member of the National Youth Union of Mali. In February 1997 he became president of the Patriotic Movement for Renewal, a political party in Mali. Assimi Goïta
Général d’Armée Assimi Goïta (born 9 November 1983) is a Malian Officer (armed forces), military officer who has served as interim President of Mali since 2021 and the president of the Alliance of Sahel States since 2024. Goïta was the leader of the National Committee for the Salvation of the People, a military junta that seized power from former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta in the 2020 Malian coup d'état. The Rally for Mali (, RPM) is a Malian political party created by former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta in June 2001. The RPM is a full member of the Socialist International. History In October 2000, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, the former prime minister of Mali, resigned from incumbent President Alpha Oumar Konaré's party, the Alliance for Democracy in Mali-African Party for Solidarity and Justice (ADEMA-PASJ), over which he had presided since 1994. In February 2001, with activists and executives in tow, Keïta created the movement Alternative 2002 to back his bid for president. The Rally for Mali followed in June.
