Chkhetidze
The House of Chkhetidze ( ka, ჩხეტიძე) was an ancient Georgian noble family known in West Georgia from the tenth century. Members of the family held the title of Knyaz in the Russian Empire, granted to them in 1850 and 1861. The oldest known representative is Germain Chkhetidze, Archbishop-Metropolitan of Bedia in 999. The House of Chkheidze was an old Nobility of Georgia (country), Georgian noble family, ruling family of the Duchy of Racha, until the late XVIII century. In the 19th century, after the annexation of Georgia by the Russian Empire, they became part of the Russian nobility and were awarded with the Russian title of Knyaz. GERB, an acronym for Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (), is a conservative center-right populist political party which was the ruling party of Bulgaria during the periods between 2009–2013, 2014-2021, 2025-present and was supporting the Denkov government between 2023-2024. Bedia Monastery
Bedia Cathedral ( ka, ბედიის მონასტერი) is a medieval Georgian Orthodox cathedral located in Bedia, in the Tkvarcheli district of Abkhazia (or Ochamchire Municipality according to the Georgia's subdivision), a disputed region on the Black Sea coast. Bedia Cathedral was originally built at the close of the 10th century and consecrated in 999 on the behest of King Bagrat II of Abkhazia, who would go on to become the first King of the Georgia as Bagrat III and who was interred at the church after his death. The extant edifices, however, date back to the 13th-14th centuries and include a domed cruciform church, a belltower resting upon the northern narthex and the ruins of an old palace. Mingrelia or Samegrelo ( ka, სამეგრელო, tr ; ) is a historic province in the western part of Georgia, formerly known as Odishi. It is primarily inhabited by the Mingrelians, a subgroup of Georgians. Cyril Leo Toumanoff ( ka, კირილ თუმანოვი; ; 10 October 1913 – 4 February 1997) was a Georgian-American historian, and academic genealogist who mostly specialized in the history and genealogies of medieval Georgia, Armenia, Iran, and the Byzantine Empire. Born in the Russian Empire into a princely family, Toumanoff escaped to the United States after the Russian Revolution.
