Chișinău Central Cemetery
The Chișinău Central Cemetery () is a cemetery located in the Sectorul Centru of Chișinău, Moldova, in the "triangle" of Alexei Mateevici, Vasile Alecsandri and Pantelimon Halippa. Founded in 1811, it is the resting place of many prominent personalities in the history and culture of Moldova. Moldova
Moldova, officially the Republic of Moldova, is a Landlocked country, landlocked country in Eastern Europe, with an area of and population of 2.42 million. Iachim Grosul
Iachim Sergheevici Grosul (name also rendered as Yakim Grosul) (21 September 1912 – 28 September 1976) was a Moldovan scientist, and the first president of the Academy of Science of the Moldavian SSR in the Soviet Union (1961-1976). Biography He was born in the village of Caragaş, Slobozia county. In 1937, he graduated from the Pedagogic Institute in Tiraspol. After this, he worked at the Institute as lecturer in history. He joined the Communist Party in 1939. In 1940 he became dean of the History Department. Nicolae Costin
Nicolae Costin (7 April 1936 – 16 February 1995) was a Moldovan politician and one of the leaders of the national emancipation movement from Moldavian SSR. He was a professor, executive chairman of the Popular Front of Moldova, deputy in the first elected Parliament (1990-1994) of the Republic of Moldova, co-author of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova (27 August 1991), president of the Municipal Council and Mayor of the municipality Chişinău (1990-1994). Bogdan Istru
Bogdan Istru, pseudonym of Ion Bădărău ( – March 25, 1993) was a Moldovan poet, a representative of proletculture. In 1931, he graduated from "Vasile Lupu" Normal (Teacher-Training) School of Iași, after which he worked as a teacher. Since 1932 he started publishing folk songs, anecdotes and riddles recorded in the newspaper "Moldovan word". He then started writing poems. Until occupying Bessarabia by the USSR in 1940, he had already published two volumes, both mentioned by George Călinescu in "The History of Romanian Literature from Origin to Present". Anton Crihan
Anton Crihan (July 10, 1893 – January 9, 1993) was a Bessarabian politician, lawyer, author, economist, professor and journalist. He was a member of Sfatul Țării (1917), adviser to the Secretary of State for Agriculture in the General Directorate of the Republic of Moldova (1917), deputy in the Parliament of Romania (1919, 1920, 1922, 1932), adviser to the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Domains (1932–1933), professor at the Polytechnic University of Iasi and at the Faculty of Agronomy in Chișinău (1934–1940). Ion Vatamanu (1 May 1937 – 9 August 1993) was a chemist, writer, and politician from Moldova. He served as member of the Parliament of Moldova (1990–1994) and chairman of the Committee on Culture of the Parliament of Moldova. Ion Dumeniuc
Ion Dumeniuc (5 May 1936 – 3 November 1992) was a scientist, editor, and politician from the Republic of Moldova. He was the founder of the Limba Română magazine. Doina And Ion Aldea Teodorovici
Doina and Ion Aldea Teodorovici was a Moldovan musical duo consisting of married couple Doina and Ion Aldea Teodorovici. The group disbanded in 1992, after both members died in a road traffic accident in Coșereni. Today, there is a monument to them there, as well as another in Chișinău. History In 1981, Doina Marin married Ion Aldea-Teodorovici. Their son, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici, was born on August 5, 1982. From 1982 onwards, Doina began to explore her talent as a pop music performer, closely collaborating with her husband. Andrei Lupan
Andrei Lupan (15 February 1912 – 24 August 1992) was a Soviet and Moldovan writer, poet, politician, and chairman of Moldovan Writers' Union (1946–1955; 1958–1961). Biography Studied in the agriculture school from Cucuruzeni, Viticulture School from Chişinău and Agriculture Institute from Chişinău. George Meniuc
George Meniuc (20 May 1918 – 8 February 1987) was a writer from Moldova. Biography George Meniuc was born on 20 May 1918, in Chişinău. He graduated from the University of Bucharest; his professors were Tudor Vianu, Petre P. Negulescu, Dimitrie Gusti, Mircea Florian. Nicolae Testemițanu
Nicolae Testemițanu (1 August 1927 – 20 September 1986) was a Moldovan and Soviet Union, Soviet surgeon, Hygiene, hygienist, and politician. Political career Upon graduating, he worked at the District Hospital in Riscani as a surgeon. He was Rector (academia), Rector of Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy from 1959 to 1963, where he founded four faculties there – Dentistry (1959), Advanced Training of Doctors (1963), Preventive Medicine (1963), and Pharmacy (1964). Emilian Bucov
Emilian Bucov or Bukov (; – 17 October 1984) was a Soviet and Moldavian writer and poet, recognized with the State Prize of the Moldavian SSR and honorary title of People's Writer of the Moldavian SSR (1982). He studied at the Bucharest University and took part in underground communist movement. Bukov was awarded the Hero of Socialist Labour in 1979 for his work, the Order of Lenin medal twice and the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, twice.
