Chittenden is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Chittenden, Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 136, out of 1,237 in the entire town. The CDP is in northeastern Rutland County, in the southwest part of the town. Pittsford is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 2,862. Named for William Pitt, it has two picket forts used in the American Revolutionary War. History Pittsford was first settled as a frontier town in 1769, about north of Bennington. It is the location of two historical picket forts used by the militia during the American Revolutionary War: Fort Mott (built in 1777), and Fort Vengeance (built from 1780 to 1781), about a mile north. Lake Champlain
Lake Champlain ( ; , ) is a natural freshwater lake in North America. It mostly lies between the U.S. states of New York (state), New York and Vermont, but also extends north into the Canadian province of Quebec. Otter Creek (Vermont)
Otter Creek is the longest river entirely contained within the borders of Vermont. Roughly long, it is the primary watercourse running through Rutland County and Addison County. The mouth of the river flows into Lake Champlain. AT&T established the numbering plan area (NPA) for the entire state with one of the original area codes in October 1947 and it remains Vermont's only area code.
