Chishang, Taitung
Chihshang Township () is a Township (Taiwan), rural township in Taitung County, Taiwan. Chihshang was founded by Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous Makatao people, Makatao from Pingtung County, Pingtung 160 years ago, along with the other immigrants, including Taivoan people, Taivoan from Kaohsiung and very few Siraya people, Siraya from Tainan later in the 1950s. The indigenous Night Ceremony has been held in Chihshang annually in November. Geography The township is located at the Huatung Valley. Administrative divisions The township comprises 10 villages: Dapo, Dapu, Fuwen, Fuxing, Fuyuan, Jinyuan, Qingfeng, Wanan, Xinxing and Zhenxing. Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of County (Taiwan), counties of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan), along with County-administered city, county-administered cities. The Wu Tao Chishang Lunch Box Cultural History Museum () is a museum about lunch boxes in Chishang Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. The museum also serves as a restaurant. History The museum was opened in 2002 by Chishang Township Office and Chishang lunchbox vendors. Architecture At the front of the building lies two vintage rolling stocks offer the nostalgic environment for a time when travelers would buy a lunch box to take with them on their train journey. Dapo Pond
The Dapo Pond () is a pond in Chihshang Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. History The pond was originally called Dabi. In early years, the fish and shrimp found in Chihshang came from Dapo area. During the Japanese rule of Taiwan, the pond had a surface area of 55 hectares and there were abundant fish and shrimp inside the water. Lotuses and water chestnuts also grew in the pond. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, the pond became one of the ten scenic sights of Taitung County under the title ''The Fishing Line of Chihshang''. However, after the Large Dapo Drainage Ditch water conservation facility, natural silting and other factors, the surface area of the pond gradually shrinks.
