Chilean Presidential Primaries, 2021
The Chilean presidential primaries of 2021 were held in Chile on Sunday 18 July 2021. According to the law, primaries are voluntary, but its results are binding. Two political coalitions decided to participate: Former minister Sebastián Sichel won the Chile Vamos primary with 49% of the vote, while deputy Gabriel Boric became the nominee with 60%. The Constituent Unity coalition decided not to participate. The presidential election was held on Sunday 21 November 2021. BBC Mundo (Spanish for ''BBC World''), previously known as the BBC Latin American Service, is part of the BBC World Service's foreign language output, one of 40 languages it provides. Beatriz Sánchez (journalist)
Beatriz de Jesús Sánchez Muñoz (born 24 December 1970) is a Chilean journalist and politician. She is currently the Chilean ambassador to Mexico. During the 1990s and 2000s, she worked as a political and current affairs journalist for radio stations in Chile, where she achieved high recognition for her activity. During the 2010s, she joined television, where she was the host of the ''Hora 20'' news program on La Red. In 2017, she ran for her country's presidential candidacy in the Broad Front primaries, achieving 68% of the preferences. In the same year, she ran as a candidate for the Broad Front in the 2017 presidential elections, where she reached third place, with a percentage higher than 20%, only two percentage points lower than her contender, Alejandro Guillier. Alberto Espina
Alberto Miguel Espina Otero (born 4 December 1956) is a Chilean lawyer and politician. He was Minister of Defense in the second government of the President Sebastián Piñera (2018–2022). Biography He is the son of Alberto Espina Barros and María Eliana Otero Lathrop (now deceased). Also Espina has three brothers: a doctor, another Minister of the Court of Appeals and another sister. Likewise, he is the nephew of Miguel Otero Lathrop, senator of Renovación Nacional ―RN; same party of Espina― for the 1990–1998 period. He attended at The Grange School graduating from there in 1974.
