Chick Young
Charles "Chick" Young (born 4 May 1951) is a professional association football pundit who regularly appears for BBC Scotland on ''Sportscene'' and ''Sportsound''. He is known for his trademark laugh and speech patterns, which have made him a popular target for lampooning on the BBC Scotland sports comedy ''Only an Excuse?'' Career Young has become a prominent football commentator with the BBC. He started hosting episodes of ''Sportsound'' in October 2009, working two to three episodes a month. In addition, he regularly writes his own view on Scottish football matches and players in his online column with the BBC, titled, "Chick Young's View". In 2008, he was injured in a game between MSPs in Glasgow. He was tackled and his ankle was badly hurt, forcing him to miss a charity golf event the following day. Govan
Govan ( ; Cumbric?: ''Gwovan'?''; Scots: ''Gouan''; Scottish Gaelic: ''Baile a' Ghobhainn'') is a district, parish, and former burgh now part of south-west City of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated west of Glasgow city centre, on the south bank of the River Clyde, opposite the mouth of the River Kelvin and the district of Partick. Historically it was part of the County of Lanark. In the early medieval period, the site of the present Govan Old churchyard was established as a Christian centre for the Brittonic Kingdom of Alt Clut (Dumbarton Rock) and its successor realm, the Kingdom of Strathclyde. Heart Attack
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to the coronary artery of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort which may travel into the shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw. Often it occurs in the center or left side of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes. The discomfort may occasionally feel like heartburn. Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, nausea, feeling faint, a cold sweat or feeling tired. About 30% of people have atypical symptoms. A8 Road (Scotland)
The A8 is a major road in Scotland, connecting Edinburgh to Greenock via Glasgow. Its importance diminished following the construction of the M8 motorway which also covers the route between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The road originally also included Princes Street, but this stretch was declassified, as Princes Street is no longer open to all traffic. Only once the road reaches the A720 City Bypass does it become a primary route, leading out past the Royal Highland Showground at Ingliston, and Edinburgh Airport. Sally Carr
Sally Carr (born 28 March 1945) is a Scottish singer, best known as the lead singer of the 1970s pop group Middle of the Road. Personal life Sarah Cecilia Carr was born on 28 March 1945. She has four brothers. Her father was a miner. Her mother, Cecilia, was bedridden. When Carr was a child, the family used to sing around a piano; Carr never had any professional vocal training. Carr still performs at oldies concerts as of 2010. In 1978, Carr married journalist Chick Young and had a son, Keith, in 1980. They separated in 1984, but did not divorce, and remained friends. On 18 January 2001, Keith was killed in a motorbike accident. Music Carr's first group was The Southerners. Bellahouston Academy
Bellahouston Academy is a non-denominational state-run secondary school in Bellahouston, south-west Glasgow, Scotland. History Bellahouston Academy first opened in 1876 as a private school run by Alexander Sim. It was taken over by the Govan School Board in 1885, and has been a state school ever since. The school buildings have recently been refurbished to provide for 1100 pupils. The site of the Academy was donated by the Misses Steven of Bellahouston whose generosity also provided the clocktower, and the building was designed by a Bath Street architect, Robert Balde. The advertisement which announced the opening of the Academy described it as a 'Boy's High Class School and Ladies' College'. ''Only an Excuse?'' is an annual Scottish comedy sketch show that was broadcast on BBC One Scotland on Hogmanay from 1993 to 2020.
