Cheadle is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Wheatland County. It is located on Highway 24, south of the Highway 1 and approximately east of the City of Calgary. Cheadle is a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom since 2024 by Tom Morrison of the Liberal Democrats. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system. It is a marginal seat between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. From 1970 until 2001, it was held by the Conservatives, after which it was held by the Liberal Democrats from 2001 until the 2015 general election, when it was taken back by the Conservatives. Cheadle is a market town and civil parish in the Staffordshire Moorlands District of Staffordshire, England, with a population of 12,000 at the 2021 census. Frank Cheadle (7 November 1885 – 12 May 1916) was an Australian pioneering rugby league footballer and AIF soldier who fell in World War I. A New South Wales interstate and Australian international representative centre, he was reputedly the first Sydney rugby union player to sign with the new breakaway league in its earliest formative days in late 1907. He played for New South Wales in the first rugby match run by the newly created 'New South Wales Rugby Football League' which had just split away from the established New South Wales Rugby Football Union. Vernon Irvin Cheadle (February 6, 1910 – July 23, 1995) was an American botanist who served as the second chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara from 1962 to 1977. He was born in Salem, South Dakota. He graduated magna cum laude from Miami University in Ohio with a bachelor's degree in botany in 1932, and a master's degree and a PhD in botany from Harvard University. His doctoral dissertation in botany was titled ''Investigations in the anatomy of the liliaceae and the amaryllidaceae'' (1936).
