Chatou () is a Communes of France, commune in the Yvelines Departments of France, department in the Île-de-France Regions of France, region in north-central France. Chatou is a part of the affluent suburbs of western Paris and is on the northwest side of the Seine river about from the city's Kilometre Zero, center. History On May 31, 1875, part of the territory of Chatou was detached and merged with a part of the territory of Le Pecq and a part of the territory of Croissy-sur-Seine to create the commune of Le Vésinet. It boasts many bourgeois mansions of every kind of architecture and owned by private individuals. Chatou is the host of the Maison Fournaise, a meeting place for Impressionist painters in the past. ÃŽle Des Impressionnistes
The Île des Impressionnistes (), or Île de Chatou, is an island in the Seine located to the west of Île-de-France, between the communes of Chatou in Yvelines, on the right bank (to which it is administratively attached), and Rueil-Malmaison in Hauts-de-Seine, on the left bank. Toponymy The island got its name because it was popular with impressionist painters, including Claude Monet, in the second half of the 19th century. History Towards the end of the 18th century, the great and the small island of Chatou were connected by a dike to reinforce the current and thus improve the efficiency of the '' Machine de Marly''. MACS MTO
The MACS MTO () is the world's first museum dedicated to Sufism and is located in Chatou, in ÃŽle-de-France. The museum opened to the public in September 2024. MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism, an international non-profit organization, initiated the Museum Project. The Museum is housed in a 19th-century French urban mansion overlooking the Seine, with an on-site garden, and houses a rotating permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. History and Purpose The Museum represents the culmination of a project spanning more than 10 years. While its conception dates back to the 1970s. The Maison Fournaise (; "House of Fournaise") is a restaurant and museum located on the Île des Impressionnistes, a long island in Seine river in Chatou, west of Paris. History In 1857, Alphonse Fournaise bought land in Chatou to open a boat rental, restaurant, and a small hotel for the new tourist trade. Closed in 1906, the Maison Fournaise remained abandoned until it was restored in 1990 on the initiative of the town of Chatou, with the assistance of American private funds from the Friends of French Art. The restaurant was meeting place of financial persons, politicians and painters of nearby places. ''Lunch at the Restaurant Fournaise'', also known as ''The Rowers' Lunch'', ''Déjeuner chez Fournaise'', or ''Déjeuner au Restaurant Fournaise'', is a 1875-1879 painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. It portrays three people having lunch at the Maison Fournaise located on the Île de la Jatte, Île des Impressionnistes in the River Seine at Chatou, west of Paris. Le Pecq () is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the western suburbs of Paris, from the center of Paris. Geography The commune of Le Pecq is located in a loop of the Seine river, west of Paris, at the foot of the chateau of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Le Pecq's territory is astride the two banks of the Seine and includes a small island, Corbière.
