Charlie (band)
Charlie was a British rock band formed in 1971 by singer/songwriter Terry Thomas. The group was most active as a recording unit from the mid-1970s to 1986. Charlie never charted in the UK but had four minor hits in the US: "Turning To You" (1977) "She Loves to Be In Love" (1978), "Killer Cut" (1979) and "It's Inevitable" (1983). History The band was briefly called "Charlie Cuckoo" (after a racehorse), but soon became known simply as "Charlie". Iron Maiden are an English Heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris (musician), Steve Harris. "Pieces of Ice" is a song written by Marc Jordan and John Capek and recorded by American singer Diana Ross. It was produced by Gary Katz, and was released on June 17, 1983 as the first single from the singer's self-titled album, '' Ross'' (1983). It was the only simultaneous top forty single the singer scored on this album, which was one of her rare misses on RCA Records in the early 1980s. In the US, the song reached #31 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and #15 on the soul singles chart. In Europe, "Pieces of Ice" peaked at #46 in the UK, and it charted best in Norway, where it reached #8. The song was released in three different version lengths: a 7-inch version at 3:57, an album version at 4:58, and the 12-inch version at 7:19. Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem (April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014) was an American disc jockey, actor, and radio presenter who created and hosted several radio countdown programs, notably ''American Top 40'', as well as the weekly syndicated television series ''America's Top 10''. He was the first actor to voice Shaggy Rogers in the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise (1969 to 1997 and 2002 to 2009) and Dick Grayson/Robin in ''Super Friends'' (1973–1985). Kasem began hosting the original ''American Top 40'' on the weekend of July 4, 1970, and remained there until 1988. Robert John Henrit (born 2 May 1944) is an English drummer. He has been a notable member of several musical groups, including Buster Meikle & The Daybreakers, Unit 4 + 2, the Roulettes, Argent and The Kinks. Biography Robert John Henrit was born in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, England on 2 May 1944. He first played washboard as a teen, progressing to a borrowed drum kit and left school at 17 with his parents' blessing to pursue a distinguished music career. He was originally the drummer with Buster Meikle & the Day Breakers, together with Russ Ballard on guitar and Roy Ballard, Russ's older brother, on piano. His neighbour, Harry Webb (who would later perform under the stagename Cliff Richard) introduced him to the Roulettes (1962–1967), gaining initial professional success with them. Argent were an English rock band formed in 1969 by former Zombies keyboardist Rod Argent. They had three UK Top 40 singles: " Hold Your Head Up", which reached No. 5 and spent 12 weeks on the chart, "Tragedy" (No. 34), and " God Gave Rock and Roll to You" (No. 18).
