Charles Hardinge, 2nd Viscount Hardinge
Charles Stewart Hardinge, 2nd Viscount Hardinge (2 September 1822 – 28 July 1894), was a British Conservative politician. Hardinge was the son of Field Marshal Henry Hardinge, 1st Viscount Hardinge, and Lady Emily Jane Stewart, daughter of Robert Stewart, 1st Marquess of Londonderry. Hardinge was elected Member of Parliament for Downpatrick in 1851, a seat he held until 1856, when he succeeded his father in the viscountcy and entered the House of Lords. He held office as Under-Secretary of State for War from March 1858 to March 1859 in the Second Derby-Disraeli ministry. He was aged 21, when he went to India as private secretary to his father, the then, governor general, from July 1844 to January 1848. He was appointed Major of the Kent Militia Artillery when it was formed in 1853, and the unit was embodied for home defence during the Crimean War. Richard Ker
Richard John Charles Rivers Ker (21 July 1822 – 18 December 1890) was an Irish politician and first-class cricketer. He was a son of David Ker, MP for Athlone 1820-1826 and Downpatrick 1835-1841, and Selina Sarah, daughter of the first Marquess of Londonderry, and the younger brother of David Stewart Ker, the Member of Parliament for Downpatrick, 1841-1847 and 1859-1867 and one of the Members of Parliament for County Down, 1852-1857 He was educated in England at Eton College, before going up to Corpus Christi College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he made three appearances in first-class cricket for Oxford University in 1841–2, playing twice against the Marylebone Cricket Club and once in The University Match against Cambridge. Viscount Hardinge
Viscount Hardinge, of Lahore and of Kings Newton in the County of Derby, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1846 for the soldier and Tory politician Sir Henry Hardinge. His son, the second Viscount, represented Downpatrick in Parliament. His great-great-grandson, the sixth Viscount, succeeded a distant relative as eighth Baronet, of Belle Isle in the County of Fermanagh, in 1986. This title had been created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 1801 for Richard Hardinge. He was the third son of Nicolas Hardinge, younger brother of Reverend Henry Hardinge and uncle of the latter's third son Henry Hardinge, 1st Viscount Hardinge. James St Clair-Erskine, 3rd Earl Of Rosslyn
General James Alexander St Clair-Erskine, 3rd Earl of Rosslyn PC, DL (15 February 1802 – 16 June 1866), styled Lord Loughborough from 1805 to 1837, was a Scottish soldier and Tory politician. A General in the British Army, he also held political office as Master of the Buckhounds between 1841 and 1846 and again in 1852 and as Under-Secretary of State for War in 1859. Early life Rosslyn was the son of James St Clair-Erskine, 2nd Earl of Rosslyn, by his wife Harriet Elizabeth Bouverie, daughter of the Hon. Edward Bouverie (the second son of Jacob Bouverie, 1st Viscount Folkestone). Career Rosslyn entered the British Army in 1819. He purchased a captaincy in the 9th Light Dragoons in 1823 and a lieutenant-colonelcy in 1828. He was promoted to Major-General in 1854, to Lieutenant-General in 1859 and to full General on 20 April 1866. Sir John William Ramsden, 5th Baronet (14 September 1831 – 15 April 1914) was a British Liberal Party politician. Biography Ramsden was born on 14 September 1831 to John Charles Ramsden and his wife Isabella Dundas. He was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Taunton from 1853 to 1857, and for Hythe in 1857, serving as Under-Secretary of State for War from 1857 to 1858.
