Chan Soo Sen
Chan Soo Sen ( zh, s=曾士生, p=Zēng Shìshēng; born 1 October 1956) is a Singaporean former politician from the People's Action Party. He was the Parliament of Singapore#Members of Parliament, Member of Parliament representing the Joo Chiat ward in the East Coast Group Representation Constituency from 1997 to 2001 and the Joo Chiat Single Member Constituency (SMC) from 2001 to 2011. Education Chan studied at Catholic High School, Singapore, Catholic High School and was a President's Scholar. Career Business career Chan also served as chief executive officer of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Co Ltd from 1994 to 1996. Teo Chee Hean
Teo Chee Hean ( zh, s=张志贤, poj=Tioⁿ Chì-hiân, p=Zhāng Zhìxián, first=poj; born 27 December 1954) is a Singaporean former politician and two-star rear-admiral who served as Senior Minister of Singapore and Coordinating Minister for National Security (Singapore), Coordinating Minister for National Security from 2019 and 2015 respectively until 2025. He served as the Parliament of Singapore, Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Pasir Ris, Pasir Ris West division of Pasir Ris–Punggol Group Representation Constituency, Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC from 2001 to 2025. A recipient of the President's Scholarship and Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship, Teo served in the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) between 1972 and 1992, and attained the rank of Rear-Admiral (Two-Star). The East Coast Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the eastern area of Singapore. It consists of locations such as East Coast Park, Bedok, Changi (in part), Simei, Siglap, Joo Chiat and Chai Chee.A large portion of Singapore's eastern territorial waters also belongs to the GRC. 2006 Singapore General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 6 May 2006. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 20 April 2006 on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong three weeks before the election. The People's Action Party (PAP) won 66.6% of the overall votes and gained 82 out of 84 seats. The PAP held the office of Prime Minister for a twelfth consecutive term. The general election was held under the first-past-the-post system. On Nomination Day, the PAP gained 37 seats in divisions which were uncontested by other parties. He is most notable for attempting to contest various elections, general and presidential, without a record of success. General elections were held in Singapore on 3 November 2001. President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 18 October 2001 on the advice of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) won 82 of the 84 elected seats in Parliament in a landslide victory. This was the third consecutive election (and fourth overall) where the PAP returned to power on nomination day due to a majority of seats, 55 of them from ten Group Representation Constituencies, just one seat short from a supermajority, were elected via walkovers, being the most recent election on doing so.
