Chambersville, Texas
Chambersville is an unincorporated community in Collin County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 40 in 2000. It is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. History Chambersville was named for Elisha Chambers, who relocated to the area from North Carolina in 1847. He received a land grant from Peter's Colony for of land along the east fork of the Trinity River in 1850. Three years later, he gave land to build a church and cemetery. A post office was established at Chambersville in 1894 and remained in operation until 1903, with Jacob Bryan serving as postmaster. In 1903, mail was routed to McKinney. Its population was 40 from the 1950s through 2000. On April 22, 1968, an F1 tornado struck Chambersville. McKinney North High School (commonly known as North, McKinney North, or MNHS) is a public secondary school located on 2550 Wilmeth Road in McKinney, Texas, US. The school is part of the McKinney Independent School District. Mckinney North currently holds the most zoned space in McKinney. McKinney North High School opened to its first freshman class in the year 2000. North was also recently updated to a "recognized" status via the TEA. Academics McKinney North operates on a 7:30 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. schedule, which includes seven-class periods and a twenty-six-minute lunch period. Trinity River (Texas)
The Trinity River is a river, the longest with a watershed entirely within the U.S. state of Texas. It rises in extreme northern Texas, a few miles south of the Red River of the South, Red River. The headwaters are separated by the high bluffs on the southern side of the Red River. The Trinity River was previously identified as the stream that the Caddo called Arkikosa in Central Texas and Daycoa nearer the coast. However, in 2022, language preservationists from the Caddo Nation determined their ancestral language lacked the letter “R” sound. Arkikosa was likely a corruption or misspelling of the word Akokisa. The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) is an American nonprofit educational and research organization dedicated to documenting the history of Texas. It was founded in Austin, Texas, United States, on March 2, 1897. In November 2008, the TSHA moved its offices from Austin to the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. In 2015, the offices were relocated again to the University of Texas at Austin. History On February 13, 1897, ten persons convened to discuss the creation of a nonprofit to promote Texas state history. George Pierce Garrison, chair of the University of Texas history department, led the organizational meeting establishing the association on March 2, 1893.
