Chakali Language
Chakali (tʃàkálɪ́ɪ́) is a Gur language of Ghana, spoken by almost 3,500 individuals in several villages in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region. More specifically, Chakali is spoken by inhabitants of the Tiisa, Sogla, Tousa, Motigu, Ducie, Katua and Gurumbele villages. The majority of Chakali speakers also speak Wali or Bulengi. Some believe that the language of Chakali is soon to be extinct, with Wali and Bulengi becoming the only languages that will be spoken in those villages. Phonology Chakali phonology is typical of Gur languages, with tone, vowel harmony, and labial–velar consonant. The majority of Chakali's syllables fall into one of three categories C(consonant)V(vowel), CVC and CVV. All the other syllable combinations found in Chakali are extremely rare and are not found in the middle syllable of a word. Chakali Ailamma
Chityala Ilamma ( – 10 September 1985), better known as Chakali Ilamma, was an Indian revolutionary leader during the Telangana Rebellion. Her act of defiance against Zamindar Ramachandra Reddy, known as Visnoor Deshmukh, to cultivate her land, became an inspiration for many during the rebellion against the feudal lords of the Telangana region. Early and personal life Chityala Ilamma was born in 1895 as the fourth child of Oruganti Mallamma and Sailu in Kistapuram of Warangal district, of present-day Telangana, India. She belongs to Rajaka caste. Ilamma was married to Chityala Narasimah at the age of 11. The couple had four sons and a daughter. Career Ilamma took the red flag against the anarchy of Deshmukh and Razakar in Visnur between 1940 and 1944. She joined the Andhra Mahasabha as well as the Communist Party of India. Chakli is a savoury snack from Maharashtra, India. It is a spiral-shaped snack with a spiked surface. Chakli is typically made from flours of rice flour, rice, Bengal gram (brown chickpea) and black gram (''urad daal''). It has several variations, depending on the types and proportion of flours used. Murukku is a South Indian snack typically made with rice and black gram flour during Diwali. It is also very popular in South Africa, introduced by the Indian diaspora. Maize flour is used instead of rice flour with the addition of salt and cumin as the basic dry ingredients. It is sold by street vendors and at neighborhood shops.
