The Chairman of the Mäjilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (; ) is a presiding officer of the lower house Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and is responsible for opening sessions, preside over regular and extraordinary joint meetings. The post was formed on 30 January 1996 at the first parliamentary session opening after the 1995 Kazakh constitutional referendum, 1995 constitutional referendum which was held in August 1995 where majority of Kazakh voters approved of the new constitution which created a bicameral legislature that included the lower chamber Mäjilis. Erlan Qoşanov
Erlan Jaqanūly Qoşanov (, ; born 14 August 1962), sometimes romanized as Yerlan Koshanov, is a Kazakh politician who is serving as the member and Chairman of the Mäjilis, chairman of the Mäjilis since 2022. Prior to that, he served as the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan, Aqorda Chief of Staff under Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's administration from 2019 to 2022, äkim of Karaganda Region from 2017 to 2019 and the head of the Prime Minister's Office (Kazakhstan), Prime Minister's Office from 2012 to 2017. As a member of the ruling Amanat (political party), Amanat party, Qoşanov since 2022 has headed the party following Tokayev's brief leadership in response to Nursultan Nazarbayev's resignation after leading the formerly Nur Otan party. While serving as deputy, Qoşanov headed the Amanat parliamentary group in the lower house Mäjilis during the 7th Parliament of Kazakhstan, 7th convocation until its dissolution in 2023.
