Cerrito, officially Cerrito de la Victoria, is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Most of the barrio is on a hill (''cerrito'' is Spanish for "hill") on which is the church named Santuario Nacional del Cerrito. This hill was the seat of the temporary government of General Oribe during his siege of Montevideo. Location Cerrito de la Victoria borders Aires Puros to the west, Las Acacias to the north, Pérez Castellanos to the east, Bolívar and Brazo Oriental to the south. ''Barrio'' () is a Spanish language, Spanish word that means "Quarter (urban subdivision), quarter" or "neighborhood". In the modern Spanish language, it is generally defined as each area of a city delimited by functional (e.g. residential, commercial, industrial, etc.), social, architectural or morphological features. Pérez Castellanos, also known as Castro - Pérez Castellanos, is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. In the new division of Montevideo in municipalities and "communal centre zones", Pérez Castellanos belongs to municipality D and CCZ 11. Location This barrio borders Cerrito to the west, Las Acacias to the northwest, Ituzaingó to the northeast, Villa Española to the east, Mercado Modelo to the southeast and Bolívar to the southwest. Gobierno Del Cerrito
The Cerrito Government () governed almost all the Uruguayan territory during the Great Siege of Montevideo (1843-1851). It was led by Manuel Oribe y Viana.Walter Rela (1998). Barrios Of Montevideo
The city of Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, is divided into 62 ''barrios'' (neighborhoods or districts), each with its own identity, demographic characteristics and activities appropriate to the socio-cultural level of its inhabitants. The outer barrios of Montevideo are largely rural. In a more general usage of the word ''barrio'', some people refer to the biggest large-scale residential complexes of Montevideo as barrios, although they do not appear as such in official lists. Such are the Parque Posadas in Aires Puros, the Euskal Erría complexes in Malvin Norte and others. Many areas of the city that are now considered barrios had geographically independent populations that were later absorbed into the growing city. CA Rentistas
Club Atlético Rentistas, known simply as Rentistas is a Uruguayan professional football club based in Cerrito de la Victoria, Montevideo. Founded in 1933, the club competes in the Uruguayan Segunda División. History In 1971, Rentistas was the first team of the neighbourhood (barrio) Cerrito de la Victoria that achieved promotion to the Uruguayan first division. They remained there until 1980. Rentistas returned to the first division on three other occasions (1989–92, 1997–01, 2004–07). In 1998 Rentistas inaugurated their new stadium, Complejo Rentistas. Virgen De Los Treinta Y Tres, Montevideo
Virgen is a municipality in the district of Lienz in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It includes part of the Virgen valley in the Venediger Group mountain range, and extensive parts of the municipality are in High Tauern National Park. The history of the area goes back to 500 BC, when copper mining played an important role. After the end of the Roman period Slavs settled in the Virgen valley, who were gradually assimilated by Baiuvarii settlers beginning in the 8th century. The simultaneous Christianization of the area led to the creation of one of the first parishes in the region. During the Middle Ages Virgen was a part of Carinthia and the County of Gorizia, and by 1500 it was annexed by Tyrol. With a population of 2,200 (as of January 1, 2020), Virgen is the fifth largest community in east Tyrol in terms of population. Brazo Oriental
Brazo Oriental is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Brazo Oriental is a residential zone located approximately from Montevideo's centre. Location and origin of name Brazo Oriental borders La Figurita and Jacinto Vera to the south, Bolívar to the east, Cerrito de la Victoria to the northeast, Aires Puros to the northwest and Atahualpa to the west. It is delimited by Artigas Boulevard to the south, Burgues Avenue to the west and José Batlle y Ordóñez Boulevard to the north.
