Central Sidama Zone
Central Sidama Zone (Amharic: ማዕከላዊ ሲዳማ ዞን) is an administrative zone in Sidama Region. The zone was established upon a resolution passed by the Sidama regional state council at its third round meeting of the first year in 2022. The zone was established around the end of 2022. Central Sidama is bordered on the south by the Southern Sidama Zone, on the east by the Oromia region, on the north by the Northern Sidama Zone on the southeast by the Eastern Sidama Zone, and west by the Wolayita Zone and Oromia region. The administrative centre of Central Sidama Zone is Irgalem Yirgalem (, ''Yïrgaläm'') locally known as Diko Dalle is a town in southern Ethiopia. Irgalem
Yirgalem (, ''Yïrgaläm'') locally known as Diko Dalle is a town in southern Ethiopia. Surrounded by Lakes Woyima and Gidawo, it is located 260 kilometers south of Addis Ababa and 40 kilometers south of Hawassa in the Sidama Region. The town has a latitude and longitude of and an elevation of 1776 meters. It is the largest settlement in Dale woreda. Postal service is provided by a main branch; electricity and telephone service are also available. History Yirgalem was occupied by the Italians 1 December 1936 during their campaign against the remaining Ethiopian Army of Sidamo under Ras Desta Damtew. The town was capital of Sidamo Province until after the 1975 takeover by the Derge regime, when it was moved to Awassa. Prosperity Party
The Prosperity Party (; ) is a political party in Ethiopia that was established on 1 December 2019 as a successor to the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. It is currently the ruling party of Ethiopia. The merger into a countrywide party is part of Abiy's general policy of distancing the country's politics from ethnic federalism. Amharic
Amharic is an Ethio-Semitic language, which is a subgrouping within the Semitic branch of the Afroasiatic languages. It is spoken as a first language by the Amhara people, and also serves as a lingua franca for all other metropolitan populations in Ethiopia. The language serves as the official working language of the Ethiopian federal government, and is also the official or working language of several of Ethiopia's federal regions. The Sidama Region (Sidama language, Sidama: ; ) is a Regions of Ethiopia, regional state in southern Ethiopia.
