Central Coast Section
The Central Coast Section (CCS) is the governing body of public and private high school athletics in the portion of California encompassing San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Monterey County, San Benito County, Santa Cruz County and a few private schools in San Francisco. It is one of ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Santa Cruz County (), officially the County of Santa Cruz, is a county on the Pacific coast of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 270,861. The county seat is Santa Cruz. West Catholic Athletic League
The West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) is a high school athletic conference in the Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. The boys division is made up of seven Catholic schools and one nondenominational Christian school in the Western and Southern portions of the San Francisco Bay Area. The girls division includes all of the co-ed schools in the WCAL, along with Presentation High School (all-female school). Notre Dame-Belmont (all-female school), Sacred Heart Preparatory-Atherton, and the Menlo School compete in select WCAL sports (water polo and lacrosse), but mainly partake in the West Bay Athletic League. Santa Clara Valley Athletic League
Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) is a high school athletic conference and part of the CIF Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. Its 14+ member schools are in the northern part of the Santa Clara Valley. Each sport is divided into two leagues based on strength. The De Anza League is for stronger teams and El Camino League is for weaker teams. History The SCVAL was established in 1973 and had 13 founding members: Awalt, Buchser, Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Los Altos, Lynbrook, Monta Vista, Mountain View, Peterson (closed 1981), Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Wilcox. In 1974 the league decided to split into the two divisions based on strength. In 1976, Saratoga transferred from the West Valley Athletic League (WVAL) to the DAL. Blossom Valley Athletic League
Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL) is a high school athletic conference in Santa Clara County, California. It is the county's largest high school sports league and is part of the CIF Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. Structure and history The Blossom Valley Athletic League comprises 26 high schools in Santa Clara County. Based on the strength of each school's specific sports program, the league is divided into three divisions: Mt. Hamilton, Santa Teresa, and West Valley. West Bay Athletic League
The West Bay Athletic League is a high school athletic conference established in 2002 as part of the CIF Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. It comprises twelve private high schools generally around San Mateo County and Santa Clara County, California. One member, Mercy High School of San Francisco is in San Francisco. History The West Bay Athletic League was formed in 2002 from a realignment of the Private School Athletic League. Since its formation, it was expanded in 2008 to offer coed sports and two divisions, Foothill and Skyline.
