Central Coast Mariners Football Club is an Australian professional association football club based in Gosford, on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The club was formed in November 2004, and the team played their first competitive match in May 2005, when they entered the 2005 Australian Club World Championship Qualifying Tournament. Alex Wilkinson
Alexander William Wilkinson (born 13 August 1984) is a retired Australian professional soccer player who is currently the Head of Football Operations at Sydney FC. Wilkinson was born and raised in Sydney and made his senior debut for Northern Spirit in 2002. After moving to Ryde City Gunners and Manly United in 2004, Wilkinson joined A-League club Central Coast Mariners, where he eventually became club captain and made over 170 appearances. After spending time in China on loan to Jiangsu Sainty, Wilkinson played for Korean club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for 4 seasons (2012–2015), before returning to Australia to play for Melbourne City FC. After a brief stint at the club, Wilkinson moved to Sydney FC where he enjoyed the most success, and captained the side for four years until his retirement at the conclusion of the 2022–23 A-League Men season. The World Game
''The World Game'' was an Australian football (soccer) television show broadcast on the SBS network, as well as a dedicated associated website. The show debuted in September 2002 and was the only Australian TV program dedicated to both football news and issues within Australia as well as around the world. André Gumprecht
André Gumprecht (born 26 November 1974) is a German former professional footballer who most recently coached for Australian semi-professional club Belmont Swansea United FC. Club career Gumprecht was born in Jena, East Germany. He was awarded the Central Coast Mariners Members player of the year award for his 2005–06 season at the Mariners. Before he played for the Mariners he won the NSL championship with Perth Glory and then lost in the last NSL grand final with Parramatta Power before the competition became defunct. Gumprecht played in Germany for ten years prior to joining Perth Glory in 2002. Matt Simon
Matthew Blake Simon (born 22 January 1986) is a retired Australian international football (soccer) player who played as a striker. Simon attended St Edward's College, East Gosford, where he was influenced to play soccer. Simon started his senior career with Central Coast Lightning before joining Central Coast Mariners in 2006. In 2012, Simon signed with K-League club Chunnam Dragons, however, his opportunities at the club were limited by persistent injuries. In 2013, Simon rejoined the Mariners. He moved to Sydney FC after being released by the Mariners in 2015, before again returning to the Mariners in 2018. Simon remains the Mariners' all-time leading goal scorer, as well as a 7-time Mariners’ Golden Boot winner, record holder for the most substitute appearances in Australian league history, and scorer of the latest goal recorded in an A-League regular season match.
